Temporary In-Transit Permit
Posted by Jim on October 8, 2012 at 6:34 pmHello, I am looking for information on how to acquire a Temporary In-Transit Permit to bring a coach from Florida to Canada.
I can get insurance in Canada but need a Temporary In-Transit sticker or permit.
Thanks

If you go to Bus nuts online There is a guy that goes by buswarrior that is in the bus business in Can that can give you a good answer. Just go to the board section. I will post question for you and hopefully answer will be waiting. Bob

I know there has been discussions before so you should get a straight answer. Good luck. Bob

A list of vehicles that can be imported into Canada can be obtained from Transport Canada. The complete link is on the BNO website. It is the opinion that the permit would be obtained on the Florida end. Worth checking out Good luck and maybe a member here has just experienced this deal. Bob

If you have not visited the busnutonlie web site several Canada residents responded with answers. Basic must be on approved for import list with all recalls complete. Best of luck with your project. Bob
If it’s new should not have a problem built in Canada converted in Us.

To clarify, I am not looking for information on importation into Canada.
I am looking for information on acquiring a “Temporary In-Transit Permit or Tag or Window Sticker” so I can legally drive a newly purchased “used” vehicle from Florida to the Canadian Border. The permit would be issued in Florida or a neighboring State.
Thanks

Florida DHSMV International 60 day permit . That’s all I could find out. Hope some one who actually has done it will chime in. My limited knowledge. Bob

If you buy from a dealer, they will issue what we call a “drive out tag” good usually for 30 days.

Thanks Tom, I am looking at a private prurchase. As William would say “Therein lies the rub”.
Dealers also noted that if you take delivery in Florida you have to pay Florida Tax. They recommend delivery in an adjoining state to avoid this.
