Before you jump in to a 5th wheel do the math with depreciation recognized as an expense.

Your vintage Prevost is likely getting very small amounts of annual depreciation so it’s cost of ownership is almost exclusively maintenance and repairs. Notice I did not mention operating cost because your vintage coach and a pickup big enough to pull a decent sized 5th wheel is going to get about the same mileage.

If you have to buy a pickup include the depreciation for that in your calculations.

I think a 5th wheel is going to end up costing substantially more annually than your coach.

i have done a lot of research. We realize the costs and what the depreciation is. If I would have to do it over, I would not have bought on Bus. I now know what to look for and have an idea of costs involved. We really had to do so much to get her up to snuff. Pam is tired of throwing $ at this one. We want to get into some state parks we currently cannot. We want to be in the same campgrounds as Pams parents stay. We currently cannot. We can deal with the depreciation, we like the Van Leigh and will be happy with it until we settle in one spot. For now we want the bus to go to a good home.
