Tag lifting cylinder
Lifted the tag for the 1st time and the can that lifted was leaking like a sieve on passenger side, looks like around where it comes together looked on drawing part #640729 can it be rebuilt?

I think those are little more than off the shelf brake chambers. Not sure but for some reason I think it might be a #36.
Cheap. Available at truck parts stores.

I found it is a waste of time and money trying to replace a diaphragm in an old brake chamber.
Often the plate the diaphragm pushes against is rusty and as it pushes it wears on the rubber of the diaphragm shortening its life. It could be sanded and refinished, but by the time you waste all the time required to replace the diaphragm you could have bought 2 new ones probably for under $100.

#36 is a little hard to find,$15 for a pair

At $30 for the entire new chamber I wouldn’t waste my time with a $15 diaphragm.

Art: Do you know if the pivot points for the tag lift on both sides of the coach are free to move and aren’t frozen up? That might explain why the diaphragm is apparently toast. There is a Zerk grease fitting for the pivot point (which as I understand it is a simple shaft through a bushing) that often is missed by “truck shops” when they grease a Prevost coach. If the pivot point isn’t “free to rotate”, then one side or the other won’t lift and its possible that its inability to move contributed to damaging the diaphragm in the brake chamber used to make the tag lift system work.

Yes 1 was froze up when I got coach now both are greased and free

Rebuilt pass side new #36 rubber cleaned up top plate primed and painted . Funny Prevost said, those cans not available, now I can see that you can buy them.

I rebuilt both sides with new #36 diaphragm as both pulled the rubber away from 1 spot on the cans exactly as the pic above. First side 4 years ago & 2nd 2 months ago. When i took the #36 Prevost can to Fleet Pride the profile did not match the truck #36. If i was sure it did not create interference i would would have purchased the truck can’. They were cheap.
