Tag Hub & Brake Preventative MX
Went to suck out and replenish the gear oil in the tag axle wet hubs and noticed a dirty black film on everything in the hub. (see 1st pic)
So I:
Removed rt. rear tire/wheel, washed it inside & outDisassembled/removed tag axle right rear hub, rotor, etc. Bearings were good.Removed hub seal & installed new Scotseal SKF# 35066 (Prevost# 610870) with seal installation tool.Cleaned & lubed slide pins, caliper bushings, and installed new o-rings on pinsRe-assembled everything and set bearing end play at 0.002”Lubed caliperInstalled new wet hub caps, Road King 343-4024 (Stemco is same part#, or Prevost# 611252)With the axle level refilled hub w/Amsoil SVG 75w-90. It takes a few minutes for the the gear oil to flow thru out the hub.Test drove bus.All went goodI’ll to do the same to the left tag and the right steer soon. I did the left steer last April when the gear oil hub cap started leaking between the metal & plastic.
