Tag bag pressure
Worked on a 02 HR Navigator Aqua Hot yesterday, He just bought coach so he’s new to it, he said tags are not hitting hard to ground the tags skid on hard braking, he said that there is a pressure adjustment on it, he’s not sure how to set tag pressure to ground. Does our Prevost have pressure adjustment to tags, looking at air schematics don’t see anything??? Anybody have Monaco’s in the past that know how to set it.??

In the engine bay at rear of coach drivers side about nose high there should be a push in air dial like we have on our slides and house aux stuff.
Push in and turn. If I remember right 45 lbs is what most ran.

I ran 50 PSI in our 4 slide 2006 Monaco Signature.
The absolute best way to get the pressure right is to do an all position wheel weight, adjust the tag and repeat the weighing. Keep doing it until you get the desired front axle weight.
The tag on the Sig was a 10,000 unit and I ran it loaded to 10,000 pounds. The big ISX600, 4 slides, and full bays had the RV around 50,000 total. I upgraded the front tires from 295’s to 315’s for a better ride.

On our 2008 Monaco Dynasty (42 ft., 4 slides) I ran about 38-40 lbs on the tag (if I remember correctly). We weighed 40,039lbs.

There is NO WAY to adjust tag axle air bag pressure unless an owner decides to become a design engineer.
As produced by Prevost the two drive axle air bags (per side) share the same air pressure with the tag axle by virtue of the three port Norgren between the two axles. That Norgren maintains and open air pressure path between the drive and tag axle air bags.
If you want to start messing with tag axle weight (loads) the easiest way is to go to larger or smaller tag axle air bags. A larger diameter tag axle air bag will put more weight pre tag axle tire, but it will also add more weight to the steer axle, while reducing the weight on the drive axle.
Then if you are going to screw with that you might have to start adjusting the size of brake chambers because Prevost engineers did an extensive job of sizing components and systems to not only balance loads, but to balance braking to meet certification standards.
The pressure regulator at the top of the engine bay adjust the pneumatic belt tensioners.

It’s OK Les, the Racoons are invading his garden and he’s just slightly losing it these days. He’s traping them and humanely moving them, but they only return and just piss him off more. If it was me, I would just make sure I didn’t run out of ammo.

I could have sworn I read “doesn’t the Prevost have a tag axle adjustment”?
And what the hell does the belt tensioner air adjustment have to do with the question?

In the rear engine compartment of a Monaco nose high is the tag adjustment valve.
I compared the valve to looking like a valve that we have on our buses so he could identify it.

We had 4 tag axle Monacos, 98, 99, 00, 02. From 42′ to 45′, single slide and dual slide, all with the 11 Ltr Cummins. If my memory serves me, I set them at about 32 psi using the gauge and regulator that everyone else described here, and taking it and weighing it on CAT scales at a truck stop so as to have about 8000 lbs on the tag. 10k lbs is the limit.
