Tachometer – Identification/Replacement
Alright,
You will see that I am also following a discussion on Speedometers, but this is a separate issue that I am having. Previous post I had for speedometer was good accuracy from 1 to 40 MPH, then it starts bouncing. My digital gauge that I use tells me that when I am doing 65 MPH the VDO is showing between 50 MPH and 55 MPH. Talked with Prevost and was advised to order a speed sensor.
This is the latest observation I have from weekend travel last week that is related to the tachometer. Gauge goes to 500 RPM, sits there for a few minutes, drops to zero. Turn on fast idle and it goes back up to 500 RPM and then drops to zero. After a while the gauge just sits a zero.
Flip on switches like lights, or fog lamps, or four way flashers, and I see a brief increase, and then back to zero.
Pulled the dash cover. Found this information, but can find zero from a web search:
Dixson, Inc.
Grand Junction, CO USA
Tachometer
Model: 530C0-47636
24 Volt.
Also, according the wiring diagram there should be Red, White, Brown, Yellow. As far as an tell I have Red, White, Brown, and Green. Used an amp meter and checked Red and Brown and got a reading of 24.7.
Any assistance that can be provided will be appreciated.
