We replaced our electric TV antenna with a new, stationary one designed for digital reception. Liberty Coach in Stuart, FL did the installation.

Very happy with both the performance and finished look of the new antenna. One of my concerns was that as the old antenna aged, there might be a time went it went up……and stayed there.

When you say you replaced the antenna, I assume your replaced the head with one that was designed for digital TV broadcasts. The switch to digital moved most broadcast to the UHF band from the VHF band. I’ve been in some pretty remote loacations with the smaller round fixed roof antenna and have successfully brought in quite a few stations. Your reception should be better than mine given you have a directional antenna likely with more gain. You will also want to make sure your amp is working. Tune in a station that comes in clearly and then turn off the amp. The reception should be noticiably worse unless you are next to the broadcast transmitter.

I did not replace the cables but will look and see what that involves. I have replaced the amp and the new one is working. I have heard about the the stationary round antennas and may look atone of those. When I said I replaced the antenna, I meant that I literally replaced the entire mechanism with a new one identical to the one that originally was on the coach. I bought the replacement from Liberty.

An antenna build in 86 will not work well with digital TV. There are replacement heads that are designed for digital TV. Hopefully that’s what you got. FWIW, a directional digital TV head will work better than the round stationary antennas.
