Suspension Squeak and engine compressor question
Since we left Texas and are now in very cold climate the coach has developed a very squeaky suspension in the right front. Sounds the same as when my ’88 air bags were not fully inflated. Stopped by a TA truck service and one of the techs looked over the front suspension but could not see anything that looked like it might be an issue. He commented that everything looked like new. What do you think? Squeaky shock? It’s fine until you hit an undulation in the road and it squeaks but ride and handling all are fine.
Separate issue…… The engine air compressor “unloads” about every minute or so when just parked and idling. Is that normal? I have heard trucker engines do this but my 8V did not.

Had the same issue in colder weather when I first got our coach. When I had the front end rebuilt it stopped. I believe it was the old hard rubber in the front sway bar

I’m guessing sway bar link bushings. I think they are also called dog bones. If they are new, I wouldn’t worry too much unless one of the smarter guys contradict me.

I had sounds like your issue and it was a bad sway bar bushing.

LeaksIf you have a big leak it cycles to keep the system(s) within their operating range, 90 to 120 psi.If the unloader valve(s) in the engine driven compressor are leaky it will cycle often.Mine doesn’t cycle unless I use air out of at least one of the 3 systems.

As to your compressor cycling and the dryer purging:
Mine started that several years ago. Once all my major leaks were fixed I expected it to cycle normally, nope, Prevost Nashville changed the air dryer first and it helped not at all. The engine driven compressor was the culprit in the end for my situation.

I should have mentioned that the main tanks stay reading 125# while idling but I know I have some minor aux links. When parked the aux air compressor will kick in about every 15 minutes but not every 1 minute.

Thanks for the replies. Another 100 miles down the road today and the squeak is gone! Yeah! The mechanic did squirt some WD40 on the shock mount bushings so that either worked or the bushings got worked back in. This coach had been sitting at ETLC for many months and we had only made one other trip from TN to TX where we sat for another 2 months. We are in MI now and we will see what happens after a month or so of work here.
