  • Suspension Parts Question

Posted by Paul on March 24, 2016 at 5:29 pm

    Hello,

I had my 1999 XL in to Prevost Jacksonville and had some things done. One thing they found was that my upper and lower control arms on both sides were at 50% I elected to wait till the summer to replace them and am looking to do it myself with help of a mechanic friend.

Is Prevost the best place to purchase these parts from or is there other sources out there? I wanted to get a good idea of cost and have the parts in hand when I am at my friends shop in Massachusetts in July to do the work.

    Thanks,

    Paul

Do they mean the bushings are worn 50%?

Prevost Ft. Worth replaced both upper control arms in February. Each v-link was $556.37. With labor it ended up at $1,741.50.

yes, I was told it was bushings that were 50% but because of time and money they just replace whole arm. I had them look to see if I could just buy bushings and Kyle at Previst Jax said he couldn’t find just bushing kit available. They quoted me over $4,000 to do top and bottom on both sides.

I replaced just the bushings. . Got them direct from Prevost Parts in Quebec ,CND Approx $73 Canadian

    Each .

Usually they may look bad but are OK internally ,I would get a second opinion.
