Superior Gear Box
I either have a Superior gear box oil leak or a AC compressor oil leak, I’ve been getting a very light oil mist on the backside rear engine door . It started last year when the Dash AC quiet working compressor lost it’s Freon and oil, I replaced the AC compressor with the same thing a Tecumseh compressor, It came with oil I installed it and new dryer and had it charged and it works pretty good not ice cold but it gets cold. I noticed the same oil mist on door, and I could feel behind AC compressor clutch and feel a little oil, I thought bad seal in new compressor, but maybe Superior gear box it leaking a little. Yesterday I cleaned up compressor and gear box and removed belt to compressor for now summer is over don’t need AC. I’ve seen dip sticks on gear boxes before but I have the plug in side of box that I removed when I serviced box a few years back and filled it to that level, Thing is it’s not level I think I removed belts to level box when I filled when I serviced it, Yesterday I removed plug box not level and oil came out. I installed a breather tube a while back to eliminate any back pressure, Did I overfill box?? If it is the AC compressor I will change over to a new style vane compressor, No oil to leak out, What kind of job is that?????
