Stranded in Cody,WY Transmission/electrical
I’m posting this for my parents who have a 2002 XLII single slide Royal. The cell reception is a bit limited where they are so if you have any ideas or think you can help i can get the info to them or have them contact you. They are in a driveway at relatives.
They have been in contact with Prevost, Allison, a local mechanic and a service person from Billings Mt.
Here’s what’s happened over the last 10 days.
Here is a picture of the box. Shift selector pad shows only zero and no buttons on there have any response. Internal wire harness and temp sensor have been replaced with no change. Also transmission brain box replaced with no response.
The next plan is to have the Detroit ECM checked to see if there is an issue there.
Does it sound like they are on the right track?

Have they tried another keypad? I see a list of things that have “happened” over the past 10 days. Work done over ten days or has the problem been getting worse, or did it just quit all at once?

It’s been the same problem the entire time. When the got there he parked and a few hours later was going to move the coach a few feet and when he started it is when the problem started. He did try a different keypad but still did the same thing.

Update: The ECM, the Allison computer, and keypad were all tested this morning and all show they are working properly.

I’m trying to grasp everything you guys have checked but there are 3 transmission sensors on the B400 which I think he has.
These faults don’t show up in error codes and act as you describe. I changed all 3 of mine and had a no shift problem. Mind you with these issues no 2 are alike only having like fault characteristics.
Until I reached on top of the trans and played with the harness going into 1 of the sensors did we solve the problem. Then rewired the harness. This was on an 06 chassis.
