    Perfect example of people playing with things they should not do.

    Stuff you are describing are things the converter installs and have nothing to do with SEL or CEL. The AC is Prevost and if it was working before I strongly suspect a wire connection is loose, a breaker has tripped, or something has opened the circuit. When you turn it on you should hear the condensing fan start to run and the clutch on the compressor should engage. Both have to happen to get the system working. Unless you were low on Freon and it is just coincidental it quit at the same time it was being serviced.

    What doesn’t make sense is how starting the generator makes stuff that operates on DC power work unless your batteries were dead. Was the coach kept connected to shore power while it was in the shop? Sorry if I ask such an obvious question. If the house batteries were dead a lot more than what you described wasn’t working, and now the battery life has been compromised unless the house batteries were turned off while it was in the shop.

    No Jon, the coach was not plugged in at DDA as far as I know. I did call about a week into it and asked the Svc Mgr to make sure they shut off the 12 and 24 mains. Don’t know if they did or not. If the batteries were compromised, should I replace them?

    btw, they replaced the throttle position and oil press sensors, which were the cause of the original problems.

    As far as the bus air goes, supposedly the seals were replaced and it did work just fine after that…..until yesterday. I wonder if there is any way that I can check for low or leaking Freon?

    I have been reading all the manuals, trying to find answers to my problems prior to posting these silly questions, but there is nothing like the wisdom that comes from having been there and done that! Thank you.

    Was DDA able to fix your engine problem? Was it the ECM or ground problem? It sounds like your house batteries were drawn down. Do you have AGM’s or lead acid batteries? If the latter, get a hydrometer and get some readings.

    I will admit to being a cynic. If your oil pressure sensor was bad I can understand the CEL and SEL coming on. Oil pressure is one of the only three things that will shut you down. A code reading would have told you that, and that is something you can flash yourself.

    I’m having a hard time accepting your TPS failed simultaneous with the oil pressure sensor, but if your coach is working that is good news.

    A couple of comments about shutting down house DC power to protect batteries. There is a specific procedure and it requires the inverter to be shut down first, then as a precaution shut off the 120V supply to the inverters. Then it is safe to shut down the house. Some coaches however will not start with the house battteries turned off so whenever you leave a coach with someone write down the procedures and leave copies at the key for the ignition, with the service manager and anyone else that may need to access or run the coach. This ain’t your daddy’s Oldsmobile and most service people that are not converters have no clue and you end up paying the price for their on the job training.

    The only way to determine if the batteries have been damaged is to charge them and when the inverters go into float disconnect and test each batttery individually. If one is bad they need to be replaced as a set. Depending on how you use your coach, you may be able to nurse a set along for quite a while, but if you dry camp or otherwise are not running the generator or hooked to shore power if the batteries are bad or marginal a new set might be the best option. I would not run out to buy batteries until I was sure they do not test good.

    There is a small compartment on the outside near the engine with the 2 shut down handles. one is marked 12V the other is 24V. So I should shut down the inverters from the wall panel inside the coach first, then the main switch (in the inverter bay), then the 12V, and then the 24V for long term unplugged storage (like a week or so)?.

    Georges………Apples and oranges. Your house batteries are not controlled by the switches you describe. The switches you describe are for the chassis batteries. Turning them off still leaves your house power on, and if the coach was not plugged into power the “key off” loads would have drawn your house batteres down.

    I am not familiar with your year and model layout, but I would guess the house battery master switches are located in proximity to the house batteries, and the house inverters will also be nearby.

    The procedure I described above is likely the same one recommended on a placard or in your owners manual. It is possibly located on a small placard near the master switches for the house batteries.

    Well, today I left the 50 amp shoreline. Unplugged, started the engine, no DC power, no camera, no air horn, no power seats, etc…..yes the 12V master was on, fuses blown again for the radio, CB, and others I am sure.

    Started the generator, 12V power is restored, I have camera, power seats, air horn, refrigerator etc…shut down the generator, they all went off again, no 12V.!!!!!!

    Could this all be caused by my visit to DDA, when they never turned off the master switches for 2 weeks while it sat awaiting service? House batteries dead?

    Easiest way to answer the question is to measure your house battery voltage.

    If your house batteries were not turned off for 2 weeks and you had loads during that time, and the coach was not plugged into power chances are real good your house batteries have been damaged.

    Georges, a strong suggestion: find a knowledgible Royale owner to help you understand your coach. These are complex vehicles and understanding them prevents a lot of problems and makes their use much more enjoyable.

    On on my Royale, you have 3 places to cut-off DC power for the house and chassis:

    It sounds as though you have battery problems and I can help you with that.

    This master just inside the door kills all 12 volt to the house and bays

    This 12v cut-off in the second bay, starboard side, kills the connection between inverters and house batteries

    This 12 and 24 kills power to the chassis, but does not kill power to the DDEC, it’s hard wired

    The center photo explains what I was trying to figure out, as I wasn’t sure what that switch actually did. That is the one they should have shut off!

    I have the 12V master on the dash and the last two are in a separate outside locked door on mine, I have been using those when necessary.

    Thanks for all the good advice. The coach is now at Charlotte RV center in Port Charlotte FL, hopefully they can do the right thing.

    btw, how much should the house batteries cost approximately… (so I know if I am dealing with honest people).

    As most owners have come to realize, the absolute last place anyone should take their coach to for service is an RV dealership unless their front row is filled with Prevost conversions.

    I don’t know what work you want them to perform, but unless it is the most basic of tasks you are placing your coach in the hands of people that understand RVs, but not Prevost conversions. There is a world of difference. I cringe when people who choose to not do their own work take their coach to businesses that lack the required expertise. You have already experienced what happens when you do not understand your coach and you leave it in the hands of a business with even less knowledge of your coach and its systems.

    Almost any Prevost converter can service your coach, we also have businesses that specialize in Prevost conversion repair work. This is not to steer you to folks that advertise on PC, but to alert you that these are not RVs in the sense a Winnebago is an RV.

    I probably shouldn’t be so blunt, but I would hate to see you suffer even more financial harm.

    The OTR air is what I am having them check out, as well as this 12V problem. The owner of this RV place owned a fleet of Prevost buses, supposedly he is well versed in them.

    Not trying to be a smart ass, but how would one expect a Detroit service center to know how to cut off power on a coach when the owner is not even sure how to do it? There is no way that the service center would know where and how to do it on all of the variations that are out there today from all the different converters….
