  • Starting problem

Posted by Eric on July 21, 2024 at 7:49 pm

For a few months, I have had a problem engaging the starter. Sometimes I will turn the key and the starter engages the first time. There are other times, I have to turn the key off and try again, sometimes four or five times. Since the starter was still the old style, I went ahead and put a new one in. This has not fixed the problem of it not always turning over the first time. What could cause this problem?

Also, could be the 3 position front/off/rear switch above the engine on the side of the electrical box. Again, call PrevostParts.

The next time it does it get out the tester and verify continuity. My first guess is the rear 3 position switch.

No sense throwing money at it for parts that are still good.

The rear start toggle switch in the engine bay gave me issues like this a couple years ago. I replaced mine and never had an issue since.

Do the gauges and other lights come to life when you turn the key but the starter does not engage? If so, the key switch is OK.
