I have a 1984. My key is the master electrical switch, and I have a toggle switch next to the key for starting the engine. Where are you located? Maybe someone local can spare an hour to help you get somewhat familiar with your coach.

Thanks, is it spring loaded toggle where you hold it till it starts them returns on its own? Also how long do you wait for glow plug warm-up? I’m in East Texas the bus is in Tyler Texas. I know some have starter by engine , does yours? If easier to call my # 903*431*4850 or just keep messaging , thanks, looks like same bus as yours but red.

I don’t know how similar our coaches are, but I don’t think any of the Detroit Diesels have glow plugs. I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong. On my dash (which appears to have been modified by the converter), there is a spring loaded momentary toggle to the right of the keyed master switch. I’ll include a photo below. I have a rear start switch, as well as an engine control switch. That one needs to be in the correct position to start from the front or the back. It’s a 3-position ON-OFF-ON toggle switch. I actually just replaced mine last week (long story, extraordinarily happy ending). The switches are on the right side of the rear electrical junction box, which sits above the engine. I’ll attach that photo, too. If it won’t start from the front, make sure that control switch is set to “normal” which is down on mine. The start switch is a push button below the control switch. Thanks Chad ! That is probably everything iI need to know for starting, i’m going to go get it this weekend, great explanation and photos. Youve been a great help. Will let you know how it all works out, yes we plan to convert it for travel and fun . It was $4500 worth of work iI did, has added $3500 ac unit and 6 extra tires.
