Starter Removal
I believe the starter gear on the gen has gone bye bye. My question is how the #”ll do I get the starter off? On my CC the gen is mounted 2nd bay driver side, no slide out. I can access enough of the bay from the passenger side to barely reach the starter, but that’s it. The radiator enclosure prevents me from getting any better access. I’m dreadfully guessing that I have to pull the gen out to get to the starter.

Dan, you are most likely guessing correctly. On our CC we had to pull it to do the inside motor mounts. It wasn’t that bad and it made accessing the radiator easy which led us to discover a crack in the tank. If you do have to…look at it as an oppurtunity to do the bags, check the mounts and oil pan. They can get cracks at the welds or fittings for the lines if the mounts or bags have been bad for any length of time. It’s also a good time to re-do the sound insultion material if needed. Geo.

Dan I thought you where selling your bus , can’t believe no one has bought it up such I nice coach . It will be better now after new starter bring it to ranch I can help you if you need help.

Thanks Peter, if we were at the Wyoming house I’d take you up on the offer. We do have it for sale, but actually glad it hasn’t sold yet. If some of this stuff happened to the new owners I’d be sick about it.

That’s how I feel when I sell one I don’t want any trouble for the new owners. I am at ranch now I could come your way if you need the help , just let me know no where to go until Dec 28.

Dan, if you have a forklift you’re in hog heaven…we had to use a pallet jack which actually worked fine also. Geo.

That is another job I am not looking forward to. Mine is on a slide but still looks like a pain in the ass. I do have a fork truck though to lift it out. My genset is working fine but the sound proofing is falling apart and my extractor fan is shot.

I don’t trust a fork truck so even if I had one, and had room I would be reluctant to use one.
I got a cheap motorcycle lift from Harbor Freight and it has worked very well for me for gutting my water bay and for pulling the entertainment center so I could get new batteries installed. No risk of damaging the coach.
