  • Special Color/Icon –> Bus Dead

Posted by Dick on July 7, 2014 at 6:50 pm

    To the adminstratiors:

Tonight someone posted their bus won’t start. This kind of a situation is critcal, as we all know, and appears to happen on a regulator basis (hopefully to different people).

Consider giving the OP the ability to make their posting stand out when their bus is dead in the water; I haven’t figured out an appropriate analogy for a coach. When a critical aircraft part is shipped for a plane that is grounded the package or part is typically marked AOG (aircraft on ground) so everyone knows to move the part along quickly.

Maybe you could give us one click ability to make the title bolded red (can’t figure out how to change font color) and an icon of an upside down coach. Since this doesn’t appear to happen to a Liberty very often, consider using a Country Coach or Vantare or Marathon or American or Vogue, etc. as model for the icon.

This would draw everyone’s attention to the posting.

Also give the users the ability to get an email and/or text alert of any post that uses the dead bus functionality.

    Keep up the good work!

    Dick,

We put a lot of effort, not to mention money, into ways to get members attention to existing and new discount programs, new Advertisers and things we consider important. We have added big blue buttons, we make posts, we added the announcement (top right corner of the Forum) that changes weekly or sometimes daily to make folks aware of something new. All of these things seem to go unnoticed by many.

So I’m not sure there is anything we can do to highlight someones problem with hopes that it will be seen or noticed. We still get the comments, “I didn’t know that was available.”

We could put a message on the announcement in RED with a big HELP and it would still be missed.

If I had a problem with my coach the sequence of my calls for help would be Prevost, Detroit Diesel, converters, service providers, and then an email or phone call to people I know who could help.

Between Tom and I we are on this forum a lot during the hours from about 6:30 AM ro around 9:00 PM eastern time every day of the week. We do try to help folks when we can, but we don’t have anywhere near the answers Prevost or Detroit would have.

I have been along side of the road so I am well aware of the difficulty of the situation. I know we have a lot of members who are very knowledgable, helpful, and willing to go to extremes to help another Prevost enthusiast, but……the first place to turn for help has to be the professionals.

Having said that I would urge every member of PC to develop a resource book. We have members from around the country who have extensive experience. Our skills range from guys who have literally built their own coach to people who don’t know the business end of a screw driver, but who know who to call. Start collecting phone numbers and email addresses from PC members. Work to maintain lines of communications with other PC members with your model coach or conversion. Those are the people who will have the greatest expertise with your Prevost. Think of the list as a support network. Even if folks on the list cannot help you fix the problem, they will know who they can rely on locally for assistance. I know other Prevost owners will often go out of their way to help another owner. Often the best help that can be offered to another owner is to offer advice on who to contact for assistance.

On another site the owner of the site created a list of members with phone numbers, addresses, email addresses and that list was a great resource. Unfortunately it eventually found its way into the hands of marketing companies so what many considered private information became widely available. When we designed this web site we decided we were never going to reveal to anyone in any way our member’s personal information. We will not create such a list because there is no way to protect our members.

Maybe if you were able to add a Topic to the Forum and call it ‘STRANDED” or something like that & put it as the first topic on the Forum would that work?

I think everyone that logs on would see it first.
