  • SPACE COAST PLATING

Posted by Archived on February 5, 2015 at 6:56 am

We added Space Coast Plating this past year as a result of efforts to resolve the problem we all have or will have with the Ramco mirrors which tend to have failed plating after a shrt period of time.

As soon as possible I will try to video or photo the process of removing and disassembling our mirrors for replating. The reason for this is because if they have a lousy plated finish you can buy a new set and experience the same problem, or you can send the parts in for replating.

We toured the shop and can tell you that David Pratt’s Space Coast Plating is able to provide a plated finish that is going to last a lot longer than the original because of the process they use to insure durability.

If you have plating issues with the mirrors, the entire set of parts can be replated for about $1000 less than a new set of mirrors and the quality will exceed that of new ones.

That good to know. Any ideas though on the other complaint I have read about, the dodgy gearing system? Not sure I have seen anything about getting these modified/replaced.

Space Coast does an excellant job. Here’s a bumper getting ready for the chrome process.

BTW, if the bumper looks like copper it is because that is the key to proper chrome plating. Our Ramco mirrors lack that vital step in the plating process and the plating fails prematurely as a result. By adding the expensive but vital step of copper plating first, the chrome plating is durable and long lasting.
