SMX Controllers
One of my SMX controllers has gone bad. Are replacements basically plug and play, or is calibration required? Mine each control on Cruiseair unit for cooling and heat pump and one zone of my Aquahot comfort heating. I think I can figure out programming, but I don’t have gauges and valves if actual calibration is necessary.
Also, I’m assuming these controllers just get replaced if they go bad, instead of being fixed, but I am not against fixing it if that is possible. Mine does all sorts of weird things, including turning itself on after it has been shut off, failing to properly register indoor temps, and failing to properly take inputs for temperature settings.

The SMX just plugs in. It talks to the PLM where your programing is.

I’ve had some issues with one of mine also, so I unplugged it and then replugged and it kind of rebooted. Give it a try, might work.

In addition to trying to “reboot” it as Tom suggested, try switching the suspect control pad with one of the others in the bus and see if the problems stop. I did this on mine several years ago and isolated the problem to the control module box. AAP in Virginia is the source for replacement parts at 804-633-9454. Johnny walked me through the diagnostic process and overnighted the part to me.

I had the same issue with two of mine, found two loose wires at the control board on one and replaced the control board on the other. The touch pads were both good, I have a spare I use for swapping first.
There is a system reset that sometimes works for the temp issues. AAP will send you a program card if you do not have one. They are great to deal with and have parts and info.
