SMX CONTROL
I just came home to find my galley SMX control acting crazy. the Cruise air was running and fan speed was at max, but the digital temp. display was not readable- the leds were scrambled and flashing continuously. There were no normal green lights indicating “On” etc.
Could not turn off the air at the SMX control. I turned off the breaker to shut down the cruise air.
Then fortunately my refrigerator is pulled out for service, so I was able to unplug the “ribbon” wire form the back of the SMX, when I reconnected all was back to normal.
That makes me ask where would I be able to “reset” the SMX” if the refrigerator had been in place?
Does this happen often? it was a first for me. and I have not searched the site for an answer.

The black cover comes off, you then remove a couple small screws and the SMX is in your hand, then just plug and replug. I’ve had to do it on several of my cruise air coaches.

At our last seminar the presenter from AAP went into detail about the SMX and left us with literature. I am sure if you contact them they can give a detailed explanation which should answer your questions. Tom is correct.

Jim, I just had the very same issue as you described, pulled the thermostat and cleaned the terminals but had the same thing. Talked with Fred at AAP and he told me that it was most likely the PLM board, located behind the front bumper, since the one that was acting up was the salon ac. Ordered a new PLM board and installed, problem cured, easy install.
