was least of challanges.. Actually the over the road air is easy to overcome. Minor mods in duct work and all is good. I did my own but it is not without comprimise. I would recomend a builder like B&B in Las Vegas or someone else do them for you unless you have time and skills.. Not that you don’t.. If you decide to do it yourself I will be glad to share the learning experience on the two prevost I have done. I like the challange I also lack the dollars to have a professional builder do them.. I did copy their work and study it very close..I do not have air leaks going down the road! I have learned to never say I will not have a leak but am getting better at controling even in a hard storm with them out. I would not have done the second bus if it hadn’t been worth the trouble..My cost in material is less than $1500 for the three slides. I used the orignal bus sideing that was there. anything can be done by man that has been done by man…. Bob Just don’t look to close….

I may take you up on the info. I like to do the work myself as well. We converted an Eagle a few years back, but did not do slides. Just raised the roof and drivers area and smooth skinned the whole bus. So I do have some experience with the bus frame work.

Found a deal on this Prevost when everything went South and it has been great. Still not sure about the slides but if I do slides I want them in a 40 footer. Seems all of the slides I have seen are in 45’s.

American Coach made a number of 40 foot slide coaches.

I have never looked at an American Coach. They tend to not have OTR A/C and that is a must for us as we spend alot of time in the heat of the South. We also like Cruisairs and they use roof tops.

I am not saying they all are like this, but the available coaches we looked at, Royal, American, Country and Marathon all were lacking one or both A/C systems we wanted.

We decided to stick with Liberty since most of them have what we want. I just do not see any of them in 40′ with slides.

Liberty guys will know a specific date but they haven’t made 40’s in many many years. I was on the search for a 40 foot Liberty XLII when I purchased my coach and learned the XLII was never produced in a 40′. We love our nonslide 40′ but I know opinions on this point are varied. Any coach is a wonderful thing. Best wishes and good luck in the hunt.

The XLII was made in 40 foot lengths. They are relatively rare but they are out in the market.

Like I said in the beginning of this thread, I am not a fan of slides, it is my better half that thinks she would like it. Ever since we started looking hard at this option it is becoming apparent that the choices of 40′ coaches with slides is very slim.

And the coaches that are available do not have OTR bus air and Cruisairs that we have deemed necessary for us. So we were thinking of adding slides to our current coach. And that presents another set of concerns.

The only area in the front of the coach for a slide would be right behind the driver seat and let the sofa slide out. That means a wall behind the driver when the slide is in and traveling. And the slide would only be about 72″. Not worth it to me.

The other place for a slide would be the bedroom, the only advantage to me would be if we could make it a King size bed, but I do not see a slide making this possible without scrapping all the drawers.

For these reasons I am beginning to understand why they use 45′ for slides. It just makes it easier.

So we appreciate all the input and have decided to scrap the idea of slides in our coach (thank god !!).

I think we will just keep an eye out for a 40′ Liberty with a slide or two and until then just continue enjoying this “short bus”.

Why a 40 footer”

Our 45 foot coaches have gone everywhere we went with our 40 footer, except into the garage as easily.

I just like everything from the looks to the weight, and we usually pull a cycle trailer or a jetboat, a 24′ stacker or a 30′ Cigarette boat. Trying to stay under the 65′ max.Or at least look like we are under.

I can pull my trailers and still be less weight than a 45′ running solo. Or at least within a few hundred pounds.

I know alot of folks pull 30′ stackers with 45′ buses, pull car and boat combinations. Murphy’s law has taught me I am not lucky enough to pull those stunts, so we ride the short bus.
