Another point to add to Jon’s theory is that the SOB coaches slides do not close flush into the coach shell like the Prevost …. they have a 2-3″ piece (extrusion?) around the outside of the slide that closes on the outside of the actual coach body so the wiper seal effect would not leak as easily as if the Prevost had the type of seal.There are many rows of seals on those SOB slides but they are easy to change out and they are not beyond leaking either.

The way the Prevost slide ends up flush with the coach when it is in is just another quality design we get to enjoy… infact it fits so well we can’t tell without looking hard whether you have slides or not…. that isn’t so with the SOB type slides they are very visible… Our ’98 Vantare had the HWH slides that looked just like the SOB’s.

FYI (those who don’t know) SOB is “some other brands”.

Ouch – Original Prevost Part # is 690228 and original cost is $3,410.06, The updated Part number provided by Charlie Kailer at Prevost is Part # 476322 and the cost is $2,614.41 and the internet price is $2,588.27. It is called a slide-out inflated front seal, Item # 20 on Y2-23900-00.

That sucks, but they have you over a barrel.

At the rate they are going Prevost needs to reconsider its business model. Sell the buses cheap because they got you on parts.

I have if the hole is accessible without pulling the slide patched a seal with a tire patch….tried a couple of times. Some stick and some haven’t. Usually only try this if I’m on the road to try and buy some time before it gets replaced.
