Well, while at the rally in Branson Robert Hilt took a look at my main room slide, It has alays stopped about an 1/2 inch before closing completly then the light blinks and I let go the button and it closes, I had had it to Prevost in Nashville 3 times for this issue, Robert called Nashville and told them what the problem was and what would be needed to fix it. Well I made a trip from VA to nashville to get the fix they said it might take all day to do the fix I said that would be OK just wanted it fixed, Well they ended up adjusting the limit switch again, which was what was done the previous times, Well I am at Duke for some test went to put the slide out it went out 2 inches and stopped, I waited a minute and the slide did retract, waited another minute and the slide went out OK Now I wonder what will happen next I thought by the conversation Robert and I had they were to take the slide and ajust the inner workings, that is why it was to take so long, I called Nashville asked what the problem could be they said 1- a logic control, and if it happens again turn the engine off turn the key on and off three times and it should reset, This slide issue has been going on ever since I bought the coach, I feel like Nashville does not want to get onto the real problem because of the time and expertise involved, maybe I am wrong they have been great with all my other issues in the past. I drove 900 miles to address the problem for naught I guess, Stumped, Gary

I am curious what Robert told you was the problem vs. what they actually did at Nashville…. Did the people in Nashvill not do what he said and only adjust the limit switch?

    Gary,

Jon and I both have sent messages to Bill. He’s realy good about repondiing quickly, so there must be a reason why he hasn’t answered your post.

Robert Hitt emailed me and feels there was a communication breakdown between he and Bill and Nashville. I suggest you might contact Robert (1-800-827-7386)

Just got off the phone with Mike Phipps at Prevost Nashville, Seems the problem was indeed a communication error, in any event he has ask me to return to Nashville for them to do the job right, and he is not chargeing for the work done last week on the slide. I appreciate that, and realize that even the best laid plans can go south sometimes, Will get the coach to him on my way to florida in 4-5 weeks after the radiation stuff at Duke, Thanks to this site for direct conection with the folks at Prevost, they do respond! Now to figure out where that leak is in the Auxilary system, and the beat goes on! Gary

Thats great to hear that Prevost will stand behind what they do. Good job Jon & Tom for your quick response to a problem. Hope and pray that all goes well with you at your treatments at Duke. Can Liberty give ya a little insight on this air leak?

Well I got a call from Robert Hilt this Morning, explaing to me exactly what happened on the miss communication of the slide fix, He says he lives 2 blocks from the Prevost Jacksonville facility, suggested I take it there and he would see that the fix was made correctly, This will save me a lot of miles too on the way to florida, Told him it would be the middle or right before Christmas before I could get it there, said OK , Another reason this is a great site the guys at Prevost follow up with the customer when a problem arises, thanks Prevost community! All the kudos go to Prevost, and in this case Robert specifically. Both he and Bill Jensen have been very helpful to us and both are highly qualified to provide correct answers to any problem.

Well, They worked on the slide in Jacksonville, took a lot of stuff loose on the inside of the coach, mainly in the pantry, and worked the slide several times to see how it worked seem to work ok, left friday morning to go to Millenium got there at 11:00 AM put slide out, worked ok but slow, went to put the slide in and the same old thing, it stopped about 3/4″ from going in. After working the slide a couple times I got it to go in, I called Robert to tell him what was happening left message hope he calls soon so I will know what to do . You can not go any where if it does not deploy the pins. I hate the thought off driving back to Jacksonville, and I just drove 900 mile trip to take it to Nashville a couple weeks ago right after branson and it did not get fixed, The folks here say they can fix it, I just do not want to pay again to do this. This slide thing is wearing me a little thin, that and the fact that my wife is getting tired of staying at repair facilitys, and on top of that I noticed after I left Jville the cruise is not working, I need to get this thing fixed! Jusst waiting for a call Gary

Gary I can’t even think of anything to say except hang in there. I would call PASS and tell them to find Robert for you so you know what to do next.

I’m no slide expert, but it sure sounds as though the method used to sense where the slide is has malfuncted.

On CNC controlled manufacturing equipment position was the key to operations so the ball screw devices which move the parts being punched (to accuracy in the 03″ range) had very accurate position sensing which was actually a counter. It counted rotations on a screw shaft. It sure sounds like the slide control system that determines position is off by 3/4″ on the retract side on your coach and I would guess it also is counting rotations on the driven shaft or motor.

Post the results here Gary because whatever is going on with your coach can impact others.

Fellows, They say the logic controler is just fine, the shafts that work the slide out are round and the flanges are tapered to the shaft all connections are marked with paint lining up the parts that way they can see if any thing has moved or it has been realigned with another line marked my slide was out of alaignment with the mark indicating it had been repaired and not marked or the tapered flange had slipped on the shaft, this info was from the mechanic, he said he was to big to get in the pantry so they had to get the smallest person they had to do the alignment, I also ask him how to bring the slide in manually,he showed me fairly simple but need a good offset drill to make it faster, and you have to trip several breakers and pull a air fitting to keep the pins from engageing. the slide is coming in at the top but not the bottom and robert said it is not a matter that can be fixed with limit switch adjustment. So am just waiting for the call maybe he canauthorize these folks to fix it, they revised the bill at Nashville and did not charge for the slide work done there, hopefully when the problem is found I will not be charged for the work done on the slide in J-ville, somebody has to know how to fix this thing or I need to go to a no slide coach, or, Gary

Hang in their Gary. If slide issue is anything like my air situation on my old coach, have told 2 different Prevost facilities with open check book to fix leans. After numerous trips and valves, fittings, all air bags and who knows what else. It’s sitting in the bus barn outside like a dead fish after 2 days of sitting. Gonna take the folks on the PC forum’s advice and try to fix the problem myself. Just didn’t want to get my hands dirty. Wish you the best.
