Since you can’t be here….
This morning I am going to remove my Microphor to install some new parts. The problem is, the thing is heavy and awkward…particularly in the small area. I can get it out, but anyone have any suggestions about moving it back in place….getting it positioned correctly with the seal, etc….then lowering it gently into place? That phase of the repair is the only one that spooks me. I had it out one other time and when I put it back in I used 4X4 blocks beneath it, got it positioned, then gently raised it enough to have my highly-paid assistant pull the blocks out…then lowered it into place.
Is there some method that would work better? Sure would love someone to offer up that golden idea that would make the whole process easier.

I may have used the 2 by method but I think I just used an extra thick wax seal and then sat it down. You will have to rock it around some to get it to sit flush with the thicker wax seal. But no Leaks.

Aligning it should be easy, place the wax ring like Joe said and set it down rocking a little. My Microphor has 4 bolts that the toilet sits on, alignment not an issue. I’ve taken 2 different toilets out to repair and installing the toilet was no problem, just really heavy. Put a rag over the sewer pipe, making sure it’s empty, to prevent the rose petal fumes.

The last time I had mine out when I reinstalled it I did not use the was ring.
Home Depot or Lowes or any plumbing supply house sells an all rubber replacement for the wax ring which alows you to move the toilet around alot once you get it colse to its correct position.
No more smeared wax all over everything and an easer instalation. Something like this.

Thanks Buddy! I learn something new everyday. I disdain the wax from the wax ring. Its a mess, gets all over, and takes a week of diligent hand washing to get it off my hands.

Well….I put the thing back together with the parts I had ordered: a micro switch, and a vaccum breaker servcie kit….worked great except for a dribble of a leak….RATS!!!!
It appeared to be coming from beneath the vacuum breaker. AhhhHahhh….After taking the thing partially back apart, I found a hairline crack in the base of the vacuum breaker (wonder how long that dang thing has been there)….so tomorrow I’ll order a new one of those.

I’ll have to say the folks at the “Get your Microphor Parts Here” (edmullaney) place have been great. Just hoping this last piece will do the trick. ‘

If I’m not mistaken, there’s been some remarks about the Microphor that might discourage a long lasting relationship, but it’s been great for us since we’ve owned this bus. Probably the best “RV Toilet” I’ve ever owned……that is if I can just wipe out this last…..no, hold it…if I can resolve this last little problem.
I’m alway grateful for the knowledge base that resides here at Prevost Communtiy…no kidding! ty
