Sim pump?
Apparently our sim (sp) pump has gone out on our fresh water holding tank of our 2006 Liberty XLll. Has anyone ever replaced theirs themselves? If so how difficult a job is it? We are in New England for two weeks. And we’re going to be on the road until Dec 1. We won’t be able to have it replaced until we get back. We can guesstimate the amount of fresh water by the amount of outgoing water. But I am a bit OCD over things not working. And would like to try to fix it if I can. I assume Liberty can send me another one hopefully. Thanks for any assistance.

Liberty Coach is having a Fall Rally right now at Shore Hills Campground in Boothbay, ME.
I found out that our water level is checked by radar (I have no idea how that works).

The 2006 Liberty I have has a Headhunter pump and replacing it involves loosening some hose clamps and unthreading a couple of fittings when the water tank is empty. I assume the replacement pump will be a drop in replacement so it is not a job I would consider high tech.
I think the key to success is insuring the fittings are leak free, but apart from that I see no real concerns. You will have to attach the Liberty installed power cord to the new pump but that just involves three screws.

On our coach, we have three little air pumps, that look like pumps for an
aquarium. I believe that they “measure” the liquid level of our three tanks.
Is that what is giving you your problem? Or is it the water pump that pumps
your fresh water? Very different fixes, depending on which it is.

Methinks he”s talking about the level checking pump which is a “sym” part # from Headhunter on some years. What I’m getting is that he has no level indication on fresh tank. If your coach is like mine, simply fill fresh tank to overflowing as often as you think necessary.

OK, I get it now. I never considered them as pumps.
My first reaction is how do you know the control box isn’t working? There is a very small button on the black box and if you press it you should hear the vibrations of the miniature air pump in the box. If you do hear that it is likely pumping air.
The next step is to insure if it is pumping air that the tube from the black box to the inside of the water tank is not leaking. The air fitting is a common leak source and if it leaking the resulting reading (via the LED lights) will not function or will not be correct.
If it is leak free, the next step is to calibrate the device. The Headhunter web site has instructions specific to the type of sensor. The calibration involves filling the tank which is a colossal waste of time and water. I calibrate my Headhunter sensors in a tube that is sealed at one end and whose length equals the depth of the tank. I then fill with water as described in the calibration procedure. But if the little air pump is not working a new box is needed.

If it is leaking from the steps John was saying, but working, replace the orings and cut the hose if long enough to re seat them then recalibrate as neccessary..
Not hard to to do, just tedious running to all locations to adjust the lights. You should have the instructions for the sym pumps and how to calibrate.
