We had a 440 in our Foretravel and it worked very well. Tons of info and easy to use and program. However, it was kind of info overload also. There’s something about keeping things simple and providing critical info that’s more appealing to me. Not sure I need another one.

I have the VMSPC. Used it a bunch in our Foretravel on a laptop on the dash. Was useful in monitoring Trans Temp when using the retarder.

Fast forward – With the bus, the VMSPC is in a box in the barn. I never even attemped to use it with the bus. It was just way too much information that I did nothing with.

I have VMSPC running on a small laptop off to the side. I glance at it from time to time when going up steep hills to check temps. If something out of spec happens a programmable alarm sounds. I also have it set up to capture max coolant, oil and transmission temps and RPMs during a trip. I find it useful and not too distracting since the display is off to the side where my coffee cup is.

I purchased it because my analog oil pressure gauge indicates a bit low. The DDEC values are right on the money (50psi running and 30psi hot idle)

Get the USB version. Much simpler to configure. May be a moot point as there are very few laptops with serial ports around

This is what we are working on finishing up for those that are looking at IPAD upgrades….We will be feeding much of the same data to the IPAD without having to have the laptop….

The silverleaf is in Texas, and we are in CA and all over Middle TN. As soon as we get back to TX, I will list it. Or, it actually comes included with the House and Barn if ya’ll are interested. No extra up charge for Silverleaf.

What would be the Cost for My Coach to put all the DDEC Info on an ipad ? Can You set Audible Alarms with it ? Like some others have stated about the Silverleaf , That would be information overload for Me. That i would not look at while I am driving very much. And don’t want to look at. I don’t want to have to Monitor the Old Analog Gauges constantly either. I want to be able to concentrate on the Road and All the Goobers on it ! But I would like to have the Pertinent info concerning the Safety and well being of the Beast in the back that pushes Me down the Road. On audible Alarms , So If there is a problem ? I can stop and check it out , Shut down the Engine if necessary ? Being alerted for certain Parameters could save the Engine ? What does it cost to Replace a Series 60 Nowadays ? Bout 30K ? Would be nice to have Allison Temp , Diff Temp and maybe even Hub Temps Also if that’s Possible ? With Today’s Tecnology and Jeff’s Magic Wand , Almost anything is Possible Right ? If Your pockets are deep enough that is !

I don’t want to control the lights or the TV or the Heat and Air with it. Just Engine Tranny and Drivetrain Monitor ?

Is this doable with the ipad ? Cause I Myself Hate Using Windows . Switched to Mac’s 15 Years ago , Don’t want to go back !

Go one ebay and keep looking for a used Nexus reader with DDEC software for your coach. If you are lucky you can find one with the transmission and ABS software also. I have paid as little as $250 to as much as $1000, but I end up with an ability to read all codes, all data, and to reset codes.
