  • Silly question, but how long is an H3-45?

Posted by Kurt on December 10, 2016 at 6:15 pm

Would someone be so kind (or you may already have it memorized) to measure how long your mid 2000’s H3 is? Interested to know the length with and without the mirrors.

We have gone round and round on how big of and addition we want to put on our garage. Had plans drawn up for adding 20 feet for a total of 62 feet inside length. I then realized this would take too much of my driveway manuevering room up, so then thought the “smart thing” to do would be to demo the guest house on the back and extend the whole garage back and rebuild the guest house and upstairs man cave. This I figured out that would be expensive and would severely impact my bus budget! So I’m back to adding on to the front, but I want minimal length to keep manuevering space and my wash rack. I know Jon will say I need “X” feet to open the engine door, but we live in Arizona and opening the garage door is not a big deal. I now have two feet behind and one foot in front of our Foretravel and it has worked out fine. Thinking the same clearance on a bus would also be fine. Would like to hear from anyone that thinks this would be a mistake though 🙂

    Thanks all!

You’re safe adding 3′ with tow bar and RH side mirror. Geo.

From my perspective if the garage is 10 feet longer than the coach the amount of space is ample. If you do not work on the coach, and a garage is just for storage, extra length is unimportant.

    Kurt,

I pulled a tape for you, my 02 H is 45′ 9″ from rear bumper to front of curb side mirror.

And I naively thought the question “How long is an H3-45?” was kinda like asking “Who is buried in Grant’s tomb?” or “Who was Nick Fornoro, Jr.’s dad?”

    Dick:

Cary Grant is buried in Grant’s tomb. I am not sure who Nick Fornoro, Jr.’s dad is, but Nick has a strong resimblance to the Milk Man.

Geo. … you’re one of the last guys on this forum who I would expect to have gotten that question from. Nick Fornoro, Sr. was a midget champion from out east, New Jersey I think. His wife made him stop racing and he moved into the flag stand the day after his last race. He flagged lots of east coast midget, sprint, and modified events and eventually became the flagman for the CART series. His son, Nick Fornoro, Jr. (also a race car driver) drove in a few CART races that his Dad flagged.

During a live TV race broadcast that Dad flagged and son drove in one of the three TV guys asked who Nick Fornoro’s (the race car driver’s) father was and another guy in the booth immediately (probably without thinking and with his head somewhere it didn’t belong) started to make nonsense conversation speculating about who Nick’s father was … with NO reference to Nick, Sr. the race’s flagman … then the camera cut to a shot of Nick Fornoro, Sr. in the flagstand with a graphic that read something like “Nick Fornoro, Sr. father of Nick Fornoro, Jr. … driver of car #XX” while the clueless commentator went on speculating who Nick, Jr.’s father was. Shortly you could hear the other two commentators laughing very hard while clueless babbled on (apparently the babbling commentator didn’t look at a monitor) and they quickly cut to a commercial.

When they came back from commerical one of the three TV guys explained the relationship between Nick, Sr. and Jr. I’ve heard since that TV production guys in the trailers were laughing so hard as clueless commentator babbled on that they could hardly do their jobs.

It was a forerunner to Michael Waltrip saying something about a NASCAR race and being immediately corrected by another commentator.
