Short pit

I think I am average height and a30: height would not work. I have 48″ and I can do 95% of what I need to do. Some work directly under the floor I need a two step ladder or tall stool, but for all else the 4’depth is OK

Not sure if there is a typo in there but i will do the half row of block for 4′ instead of full rows for 4’5″. Thank you.

FYI. For those obtaining a permit to build their bus barns and including a pit in the design, check the local codes. According to most building departments, any wall more than 4′ in height that is backfilled on one side with dirt, rock etc., needs to be engineered and stamped by a state licensed engineer.
I am starting construction on my barn this month and will share the pit design as soon as it is signed off.

In Indiana anything over 2 1/2ft( 30) inches require forced air ventilation. ck your local code. For years I drove over a road ditch.. Then used ramps. then shallow pit with rock bottom:hard on knees. a piece of old carpet cures that–have steel beam cross brace ends and 1/2 way. mine is all 5 inch H beam steel–rock bottom to— al-s…t oops spills. Your design sounds great!! best used is not go under there. Stay safe out there!!!!!
