Get the OEM’s from Prevost. I changed mine at 60k and they were fine but did it anyway. Prevost had them on sale in March for 50 dollars a piece. I think normally about 900

    Consider Koni’s on the front.

I wonder how I can delete the extra post?

    Dick,

The reason Mr.California put Prevost shocks back on his bus is they’re painted black.

Koni’s… painted red would not look pretty on his black bus and black trailer and his black car and black golf cart

and black tool box and black generator…..you get the drift.

I have Koni’s and they are the best. Sure smoothed out the front end left on soft setting the way Koni ships them.

Huh … He could have had the Koni’s professionally stripped, power coated black, and pinstriped matt black on gloss black.

    Dearest BA

Momma is giving you the wrong bag to smoke. You don’t remember, I have Konis on the front and if I was to be an honest guy, I don’t think I’m good enough to tell the difference between Konis and OEM’s.

If you say it’s better I believe you but if you start on tire pressure and tell me you can tell the difference in 10lbs of air pressure and it gives you a better ride. Then I’ll scream bullshit.

Remember what you told me when you rode in mine ( this is the smoothest quietest bus I ever been in).

Your only friend in the LQ, and that goes for Truk too.

Bernie wrote that BA said: ” this is the smoothest quietest bus I ever been in”

Is that because Bernie has nitrogen in his tires? Is Bernie getting a superior ride in his coach because he runs nitrogen?

    Dear Mr.California,

Excuse me, I did not know and don’t remember you have Koni on front.

    I have a good memory……. it’s just short.

Ok I take it all back…I’am going to time out.

My mechanic said to use the Monroe yellows all the way around (about $60ea from Prevost when I ordered). I asked about when to replace – he said about 20-25K mi on the 4 in front and double that for the 6 in back. (I have the 4 bag 4 shock SFA). I have about 10K mi on them the the ride has been great.

Bernie – LQ? You sent BA to time out, harsh….

Yes Sir Driver, the ones that came off were black and the ones that went on were black. We have different chassis. I asked Prevost are they Monroes and he told me no. They have no brand name on them, just a part number. Parts guy said he didn’t know who made them but they were very stout when I put them on. I bought thru Elgin and Mira Loma had them in stock.

When he loaded them in the trunk they were dusty as hell, I asked him if they were in the back for 6 years. The ones I took off at 65k miles had alot of life left in them.

    LQ is La Quinta.

And BA went timeout on his own.

Bernie & Tom, the Black OEM shocks for the XLII are manufactured by Sachs. The Yellow, Blue & Black shocks for the XL chassis are built by Monroe, and are a little less $’s.

I was told last year that I need shocks while having some tire work done at Wingfoot (Goodyear). They installed yellow Monroe shocks that were about $60 each. I will be changing those very soon. Even after having the air bags and valves repaired or replaced, the front of the bus still bounces way more than it should. I’ll be changing to Konis.
