Sewer Dump Adapter source for Liberty Coach
So
I wanted to replace my sewer hose/bayonet adapter. I bought a fancy RhinoFLEX
setup, thinking there was only one size bayonet adapter. Well that didn’t work and from everything I
see from your standard RV Store, there is only one standard bayonet out there.But
seems the one on my 98 Liberty is slightly larger than the “standard” size.So
where do you get the Adapter so I can replace the old hose setup with something
new and less leak -

Welcome to Liberty and Thetford Charles…
You have a different size because it’s a Liberty and your only option is to adapt to Valterra or go with all Thetford. You can’t get this at Camping World, they’ll look at you like you have two heads and tell you you’re crazy. Here’s one on e-bay. Adapter

Do an on line search for Thetford fittings. You can get adapters or even new hose ends. Sometimes it is more convenient to replace the standard straight hose ends with those on a 45 to make it easier to hook up to your coach sewer outlet.
The Airstream trailers also use Thetford fittings so maybe through an Airstream dealer you can also find some more options.
The other option is to do what another Liberty owner did and that was to replace the entire gate valve assembly with one designed to fit the more common Valterra fittings.

As for camping world, yes tried that. And they looked at me like I was crazy, telling me there was only one size and one size only. This was after I had already figured out there were in fact more then one size. I didnt feel like arguing with them…
Will check online for those two and get a spare/replacement on it’s way.

You simply need Thetford part number 02593. I didn’t shop it too hard, and bought some from Liberty at 13.20 dollars each.
There are 10 of them on ebay now for less than 90 dollars each plus 3 or 4 for shipping.

I recently bought 4 of the exact fittings in Tom’s photo from Amazon.
Seems Angola used the Thetford fittings as well.

Vantare used them too. I have never found a full 90 in Thetford and by the time I use the adapter a 90 will not fit. A 45 will not work on my coach so I am stuck with an open bay door when the hose is hooked up. Obviously I do not leave it hooked up.
IF I ever tear into the valve I will replace it with the common size.

I suspect that I am the only one Jon knows who has changed out the whole valve. It wasn’t by choice. First trip of consequence in the bus and ripped out the old valve on a concrete curb in Louisiana.
That repair had a small leak, so I did it again at a rally in Myrtle Beach. That had still another small leak. I eventually squeezed a tube of silicone between the 90 inside and the floor of the bay so that the dripping stopped. Not my most brilliant work, but effective.
The other thing I did, besides switch to a Valterra end so that I can use my RhinoFlex hose (best EVER!) is that I dispatched with the exterior 45 that Liberty had installed and just use a straight drop from as close to the bus as I could make it. I don’t intend to do that job again.

Well not exactly Karl.
I replaced the sewer dump elbow on my coach with a Valterra elbow with a spigot outlet. I used the spigot outlet as an inlet in order to plumb my gray water bypass into the sewer line. Now when we are parked for a long period and hooked up to the park sewer I am not filling my holding tank with grey water. I was able to sleeve the Valterra elbow to match up with the original Thetford valve. -

Charles, Please be aware the Valterra is to sewer fittings as the Yugo is to cars.
Real buses use Thetford. You saw the list of fine conversions in addition to Liberty that use the real deal.

Hey Bonz, I agree, the Rhino is the best. Now that I have a Marathon, I can use it without and adapter, as it should be!

Tom, you obviously are missing Karl’s intent. He recognizes his coach was equipped with the Rolls Royce quality of drain connection, but as owners of fine cars realize, sometimes parts availability is lacking so he opted to replace the higher quality fittings with lesser quality but greater availability type fittings.
We know you will only be singing your tune until the next coach.

thanks everyone. bought a thetford staright connector to replace what i already have (so i can store the hose in the fender between drive and tag wheels) and an adapter to let me use my “spare” hose that have a valterra setup.
