  • SERVICE ISSUE FEEDBACK

Posted by Archived on October 16, 2018 at 7:42 am

At this weekend’s seminar we were encouraged to provide Prevost with feedback on any service issues we think need to be addressed by Prevost.

I have forwarded information about premature failures of charge air coolers, fan clutches, and vibrating mirrors.

The issue with 365 tires regarding the separation at the side wall as well as lack of reliable availability was also reported.

If there are any other known widespread concerns or problems with the Prevost chassis that I did not cover, please post it here. I am looking for a pattern of issues and not isolated single ones.

I also mentioned the lack of a service manual section on certain versions of slides, an omission that might just be a result of Prevost moving information from the original publications site to the new one.

This may be what the previous post was talking about but the sliding side toll windows on the XL’s fogging badly and very prematurely even after replacement.

In addition to vibrating mirrors, the chrome plating is failing and pealing due to apparent inferior plating job by Ramco Mirror company.

The original design of the (at least) late 90’s XL/XLV entry door handle was very poor (spot weld to pot metal). Prevost apparently no longer has the original handle assembly in stock ($165) and is shipping what appears to be the XLII door handle assembly ($575) which must be modified to work (appears to be 3.5 hours labor by very accomplished and experienced Liberty Coach technician to modify what Prevost sent). So now it costs close to $1,000 to fix a door handle on the coach. It’s likely EVERY XL/XLV of that vintage will have its door handle fail.

Our door handle, just likes Dick’s above, failed a couple of months ago. Parts broken inside the door. Luckily I was outside and Mary was inside and she still likes me so she let me in.

    Pricey.

are we talking about the lever, where one of the weld was not adequate and the entire handle needs to be replaced instead of just the lever for $47?

When mine broke in 2010, Prevost Nashville had one. I replaced it in the parking lot. This is what the back of it looked like.
