Hey Jeff,
sorry no photos. It’s located in the electrical compartment just forward of the engine door on the passengers side. The mechanic took it apart and we were able to see it had definitely seen some heat as the copper was discolored noticeably in the center. It wasn’t quite a smoking gun, but it’s the best explanation to date. I actually had quite a bit more preventative/repair work done since we were there and they had things opened up. Replaced chassis batteries as one was showing weak (They had 2015 install date). I had some oil seepage out of valve cover gasket so I had both replaced as well as the injector harness since they had it open. There was a small leak in the the fuel line going to the fuel cooler so we had them inspect all the fuel lines and gaskets and had them replaced. (Involved dropping the tank). I already have my next list of preventative items for the spring stop. None of which need to be done now, but I’d rather do it on my terms vs. the parts terms in the middle of nowhere.

While looking in the battery compartment to check on the vanner connections after seeing the post on the shorted out units I found the terminal on one of the relays burnt. Looking at the electric drawings and comparing the wire numbers I think it is for the Bus Air Compressor but not sure (not to good at reading electrical drawings). Is this the area your relay was in?
I did notice the insulation/isolation material between the base nut on the stud and the solenoid was fractured and allowing the base nut on the stud to contact the solenoid which in turn is grounded to the body

I knew I shouldn’t have posted the “fix”, sure as I did it returned. We made a run to Missouri for deer season and it came back on the way home. Much more frequently this time. We stopped off at Detroit in Ocala and they were able to read multiple codes, which prevost hadn’t seen any. The mechanic commented that on 07/08 series 60 motors used 2 different types of diagnostic tools. One diag didn’t show anything the other had several which are related to the DPF sensor. The current theory is we have either a bad sensor or a bad wire. As a side note, there was a Fitzgerald Glider Truck, which is a new 2019 Peterbuilt with a pre emissions 12.7 series 60 motor. I’d love the prevost version of that.

Get Detroit to hook up computer to your coach. They can provide error codes. Check 4 sensors from exhaust manifold, thru particulate filter, then out to final exhaust. Check turbo gage pressure to see if small lost while climbing up a hill or going over a bridge for possible turbo blue hose leak, then check sensors on each side of turbo for possible issue. Best to you to find issue.

There are 2 fuses directly from the chassis battery bank, one is for the trans and one is for the engine ECU un switched constant power. If these get corroded or have an intermittent connection it will cause the exact problem you suggest. It will not throw a code as it goes dead then when the connection remakes it will restart. These 22 fuses are probably worth the time to check.

On my coaches instead of fuses CB #19,20 and 21 in the rear electric box keep constant power to the ECM’s.

Mechanic used diag8 and found DPF out temperature spike at the time of the event…and the 6 others. I brought coach up night before and we hooked up computer to cold engine with diag8 and watched DPF outlet sensor bounce 5 degrees, while others remained consistent. Replaced it and ran a regen and watched data for anomaly..all good.
Mechanic said this error (High output temp) would shutdown without warning. Unlike the coolant, oil and engine temp alarms there is no way to reprogram ecm to warning.
Have driven it for 2 days without incident.
thanks for the advice and help.

Yes. Those guys are Money! I won’t be looking for Prevost to solve any engine problems until/if I get a Volvo. I’m actually looking to go older, pre emissions series 60, no slides as we are building a place in Alaska and I want it as easily serviced as possible.

Glad you got it. Don’t blame you for going older Bus, this is just one of the reasons I haven’t gone newer.
