What’s the beginning date for the pre-rally? Linda

Is there a recommended preferred route to get to the rally site? I am not familer with the Evansville area and looking at the map it seems there could be a least 3 different ways to approcah the park. Is there an easy way in and out?

I will be coming up from the south on route 41 and will exit at West Lloyd Avenue, route 62 westbound. I will turn left (south) at Mead Johnson Nutrition onto S St. Josheph Avenue which turns into Ray Becker Parkway. I will take that to the stop sign at S Barker Avenue and turn left. At the Marathon (which will be on the right) I will turn right onto Broadway Avenue. At S Red Bank Avenue I will turn left (there is a big church (New Bethel) on the RH opposite corner, and a sign for Burdette Park on the LH opposite corner with an arrow pointing left.

Follow Red Bank and at the curve it becomes Nurrenburn Road. The park entrance is a short way from the curve on the right.

There are at least a couple of ways to get to the park but I picked this one because it seems to have the widest streets and avoids some RR tracks that have humps that might drag the belly of some coaches,

If you want to see the route I described go to Google Earth and “drive” the route using an enlarged earth view. To get a mental picture of the landmarks zoom in and look at the street views.

Bob Glines may want to jump in if he knows of other routes more friendly to our coaches.

Any hints on best route coming in from the west on I-64? Looks like I could use most of the route Jon posted. Just wondering if you know of any better way from the west?

With all the buses coming into town, I figuire the more we stay on prefered routes the less stress for us and less aggravation to the locals.

First exit in IN state rd 69 south to Mt. Vernon In then 62 east to Evansville to route Jon Mentioned. If you go to I-69 you prob go 40miles out of way. You can do state rd 65 south but is really winding and slow.

Just a note……..any route that is shown on Google maps will work but I picked the route described above just to be more certain I could avoid the hump on some railroad tracks and I wanted to avoid some of the narrow roads or sharp turns to keep it easier.

For example an easy route would be to take west Red Bank Road from W Lloyd Expressway (route 62) but it has a narrow section with some blind curves and a couple of turns that if missed would have you driving through a residential area. If you want to follow the route your GPS shows you will likely be OK.

Charles is comming with his FLX… This weekend APBA association on river at Evansville. with 14 classes including Grand Pre boats.(not bus related) Miss Bud( Bernie Littles coach) spent many years at races. Coach is owned by Lance In Tenn now– Hoping to see him and family come up. Charles is bringing sample magazines from BCM for handouts. He got them from Gary Hyatt for us. Bob

I spent three years in Evansville, IN. During one of those hot muggy Ohio River area summers the City held the first “Thunder on the Ohio” power boat races. Bob mentioned Miss Budwieser, piloted by Bernie Little. Well his chief competitor was the Miss Atlas Van Lines, piloted by Bill Muncey. I attended a dinner function before race day and Bill Muncey was the featured presenter. Bill Muncey was hands down the most inspirational and positive man I had ever heard at one of these functions. Unfortunately, six or seven months later he was killed while piloting the Miss Atlas Van Lines hydroplane in a race event held in Mexico. Such a loss is difficult to bear.
