35 is too fast. I get nosebleeds and dizzy over 30.
My speed must be right. A lot of drivers that go by tell me I am number one. I think that is what one finger means.

I am with Jon. I may get to 65 mph, but I try my best to stay at no more than 63 mph. I want to enjoy the ride and to get where I am going as safely as possible.

While I love the ride of my coach, I find the destination much more interesting than the ride and I always would prefer to be there sooner. Just made a run from Dallas to Tucson with an average speed between 72-74 MPH. In Western TX the speed limit is 80. We did get about 6 MPH which is a bit reduced from the normal but I’m OK with that, too. No big “W” on the front of this coach!

When I did a 4500 mile cross country trip in the Corvette I did it at ten over the speed limit.
I had been beat up for years about being unsafe because the oft repeated reason was trucks are doing 80 etc. etc.
Bullshit. Every time I was stuck in the outside lane behind a truck passing others that truck’s speed was never in the seventies unless he was going down hill with a wind at his back. Normal passing truck speeds were below 70 and typically 65 to 68. I know because I wanted to get back to my 80 or 90 MPH speeds. In the entire 4500 miles two trucks passed me because they were in the fast lane while I was stuck behind the slow traffic.
Maybe it is the high price of fuel, but in the last 2 days of travel I have passed more trucks doing my 62 MPH than ever, with large fleets going pretty slow.

We headed from AZ to TX today. Thought it would be interesting to pay a bit more attention. Set the cruise at 72 and see what the trucks do. I would say that 1 truck passed me for every 3 trucks I passed. Even the ones I passed were doing something very close to 70 (speed limit 75) as it would take some time to pass had I not accelerated to get by. I don’t believe anyone was doing less than 65 other than a couple that seemed to be having an issue as they were driving slow with their flashers on (flat ground).
I know nothing about driving a truck but would “assume” that if you are a company driver the company is paying for the fuel and you are getting paid for the mileage so the faster you get there the better. Then again, what do I know?????
