Saloon lights unabe to shut off on 98 Marathon XL
Greetings All,
I’ve been ubable to turn lights off or ascertain how to reset DC power.
Anyone have any ideas?

You should have 12 and 24 Volt disconnects. Ours are in the chassis battery compartment. Disconnect both, wait about a minute, then reconnect. That should clear your issue.

How exactly will the 12 and 24 volt XL chassis disconnects have anything to do with converter electric circuits? Did Marathon merge the two systems?

The 12 Volt disconnect kills power to the Techlink, which is usually the culprit of a light that refuses to go out. The 24 volt system should not have an impact, but the tech expert at Marathon Oregon related it’s better to shut it off as well, in case of bleedovers, I guess. Since I’m not a computer expert, I try to listen to the folks who are.

I cut the Dc above satrt batteries for about 5 mins and Tada.

Does that mean the Marathon Tech Link is on the chassis side of the electrical system?

Marathon house and chassis are not merged in anyway, other than maybe a boost or jump start. The house has it’s seperate cut-off for both 12 and 24. The H and XL cut-off’s are in different locations. I think it helps to be more specific as to model.

From how folks are describing the cut off switches it sounds like they are talking about the chassis master switches. For new owners that can be confusing and I think it is important to differentiate.
I did not think any responsible converter would merge house and chassis functions.

At least in my coach, there are only two disconnect switches above the chassis batteries. One is labeled 12 volt house battery disconnect, the other 24 volt emergency disconnect. Sorry if anyone got confused.

I think that is the difference between coach types, converters and coach layouts.
The only disconnects I have had on my XL series chassis were the chassis battery master switches located above the chassis batteries. House battery master disconnects were usually located near the house batteries and clearly labeled as such.
From Tom’s post he suggests Marathon, on an H locates the house master(s) in the rear near the chassis batteries.

The two house shut off switches on my ’03 Marathon XLII are located on the ceiling of the third driver’s side bay. That location is just under the compartment that houses the inverters. These two switches are hard to see just looking into the bay. You gotta get down and look up to see them.

There are many differences depending on year. As an example, my 02 H house disconnects are in the small compartment at rear along with the power cut-off for the chassis.
