We just sold our coach because I just passed the. 3//4 century mark. We were never blessed with kids to help out if we had a problem. Also most of our friends are aging. To see some of them requires a trip to the cemetery. Was a great nine years of owning the bus which served

us very well. One thing for sure each of has has that time coming.

I am not familiar with conventional motor homes or the available support but every Prevost owner has a wide range of resources available.

First, for mechanical issues we have the Prevost PASS program. That is available 24/7. The same is true of our engine manufacturer and transmission manufacturer.

Additionally we have the forum on PC, email addresses of PC members that enabled their email, plus most of our converters are available to help.

Our service providers are always willing to help.

In a case such as Grizz mentions above a few phone calls or emails will bring any member offers of help. We are over 2000 strong, and through the forum and rallies we have gotten to be a family with many of us willing and able to come to anyone’s assistance.

One thing I suggest every one does is give consideration to what can go wrong or what kind of a problem can be encountered, and make a plan for dealing with the problem. I was always thinking of mechanical issues, but now i realize we can add medical or personal issues to that list of ways to deal with problems. Every pilot on this forum has worked with check lists for emergency situations. If something goes wrong, grab the checklist and go through the listed steps for dealing with the problem. As bus conversion owners we can create similar emergency checklists specific to our own coaches or personal situations. Perhaps the biggest advantage to having 2000 members is no matter where we might be, someone will always be able to tell us where we can get service, medical help, a place to stay, someone to help. But we need a plan for us or our spouse to follow when there is an emergency situation.

    I couldn’t agree more Ken..

Every time we start talking about a member list or anything involving member information it never goes anywhere. So here’s my brain dump for the day..

We use the PC Map and create a new category such as Med Help and use one of the blue medical icons for the map. All you would have to do is click on the Med Help drop down topic and instantly see everyone in the U S and Canada that has provided their information.

I for one would be more than happy to help in any way possible! After all, ultimately isn’t that what we are all here for, to help each other get through this life?

To add to my suggestion, for those not wanting to identify their home location, just use the local post office address for the Lat/Long on the map.

    Tom:

    Marking
your location just in the general vicinity is a good idea. The general area is
all that is important I would think. Even thought I will be settling in the Lakeland area, I can mark almost any place in the center part of the I-4
corridor in central Florida for the purpose of being an area contact. I do the same thing with my GPS(s). I mark HOME
about 3 blocks from my actual house. That way if someone steals my GPS from my
vehicle at, say the start of a ball game, race, church or other venue that would assure the crook knowing I will be away from home
an hour or more, they do not
get near my actual house using the GPS. Even though I am getting more forgetful every day, I
still can remember how to get to my house from three blocks away. For most of
us, the Map should work quite well since only members can access
    it.

Use the address of the local cop shop.

All in all a good idea. Doesn’t have to be a medical emergency either. If a PC member breaks down on I-43 a few miles from our house and I find out two days later or a get a call from a local friend wondering if I know the guy having his Prevost put on a lowby … I’d regret not getting a call from the PC member asking for at least advice on what to do and who to call.

We know one another from the forum and then by putting the user name with a face at rallies. But very few of our over 2000 members participate or post on the forum.

And that is the problem. It is difficult for someone with a problem to convince themselves it is OK to contact a member that might live in the area or have the same conversion if they have never interacted with the member on the forum or at a rally. From my perspective I encourage members to call someone for help or advice. That is one of the best benefits of having a group of people with common interests.

The problem is how do we provide the means by which one member can communicate with another privately, and without having contact information become part of the public domain? Tom and I and others had all of our private information sold by the owner of a web site once and it gets really frustrating when your cell phone is loaded up with telemarketers and your email contains spam, all because what you thought was private information was made public.

Jon I appreciate your sensitivity to protecting the privacy and integrity of our personal information. Through those efforts the PC is probably the safest place for our information to be. It seems like everyone else who has our personal information either sells it or has their system hacked and its in the public domain.

Cathie and I haven’t talked about what she would do if “something happened” to me if we were on the road. Absent of that discussion she would probably try to make contact with either Jeff Rowe or George Prentice to ask for help and/or advice. Or a racer friend of ours who has a 38 foot M/H (pulls a 26′ trailer, had a toter home and stacker) who has actually driven our Prevost when I was in the hospital last June. If we were in Timbuktu and Cathie reached out, I’m sure either Jeff or George would post something to the PC Forum and nearby PC members would respond as they could.

Jon and Tom might want to consider creating a new Forum topic called “Personal/Medical Emergencies-Need Help” (or something more creative than that) with instructions of what kinds of situations to post, etc. so it doesn’t needlessly get wadded up with non-relevant stuff. It would also make it clear to the more than 2000 members that belong to the PC that the Forum is an appropriate place to ask for help when they have a personal/medical situation that might preclude them from being able to drive the coach.

Having had the quadruple-bypass last June, I’m pretty confident that I’m in good shape for at least ten years or so. More confident than if I’d just had single or double-bypass. As I tell my friends, I’ve been replumbed and had taken care of what you probably have lurking and building up in there waiting to “surprise you”.

The wife left this morning with her friends driving the RV and her husband’s ashes. She had to wait so long for the hospital and funeral home to coordinate the cremation. Here in Coeir d’Alene they were very accommodating and even opened the cremation facility this Sunday morning for her to pick up the package.

What a rotten experience her vacation turned into!
