In the past, we have rented the cheapest room in a host hotel and “just parked” our RV in their lot. We kept the dogs in the RV and one or both of us stayed a fair amount of the time with them.

Ask them about “Guest Parking” for large vehicles. Maybe all they want is the money. Dry camping and a room might still be cheaper than a RV park some distance away plus the drive back and forth.

Just for the hell of it I would call or write Challenge Manufacturing which is very close, and ask them if they would permit dry camping on their property or on adjacent property. There is a lot of empty vacant space where factory buildings once stood.

I Googled your destination on the map and within a stone’s throw was a facility with possible parking around it, plus what looked like vacant land adjacent to it.

Isn’t the Grand Invitational car event providing accommodations for motorhomes?

Way back we were going to spend a long weekend in Nashville with Di’s sister who needed a break from dealing with an ugly divorce. I arranged for her to stay at the Grand Ole Opry hotel and made sure the hotel understood we would be in our coach and wanted to stay on the grounds, in the hotel bus parking lot. They approved the request.

When we got there and checked in Di’s sister, I confirmed it was OK to park and stay in the bus in the bus lot. The people at the desk looked out the door, saw the bus and confirmed that was OK.

The lot we needed to park in was closed and the entry was chained. So I went to a more remote area of the hotel lot and parked. That evening a security guard driving a little car with a flashing yellow light came knocking. I told him I was Di’s sister’s driver and it was my responsibility to take care of, feed and walk the dog, and I gave him her room number. Without checking he literally walked away backwards apologizing the whole way to his car for bothering me.

My point is find some people you know that are staying at the hotel, get their room numbers and when they try to kick you out of the empty hotel parking lot tell them you are the drivers and dog caretakers for their guests in whatever room numbers you can get. It would be especially great if the last names of those folks you know were the same as someone of importance or newsworthy like a Supreme Court Justice, a famous athlete, or maybe one of the 10,000 Democrats running for office. Di’s sister’s last name is Williams, and at the time Venus and Serena were all over the news and if the security guy was thinking that is who was in room 824 that was OK with me.
