    Hi PC,

Before I go and replace my roof
vent in the bathroom, I was wondering what’s the best way to do this? I think
I’ll go with the standard Fan-Tastic ceiling fan but what sealer should I use
to do the best job? Also, are there different sealers used for getting a watertight
seal around the screws as apposed to the inside/outside edging, or is it just
the same product? Would Pro-flex RV be a good choice?

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

Are you sure you need a whole new vent?

Fan-tas-tic is very good with service and support and you can generally replace AND UPGRADE most models without removing the frame itself.

    Fred,

Fantastik IS a really service oriented company. They stand behind their product for life!

If the fan is to be mounted on the outside of the coach, I suggest you use the old standby ribbon putty. It will allow you to remove the unit to clean the screen. It seals the screws just fine.

Ok, good to know, thank you guys! I’ll
check with Fan-Tastic first and take it from there. Unfortunately, the fan’s
housing itself has broken at the corner where the motor is, I think the whole
fan has to be replaced. Chuck the “ribbon putty” you mention, would that be available at camping world? Or maybe at a hardware store? Thanks.

I purchased the roll I have in the shop from and RV supplier. I’m sure Camping World will have it.

Can’t go wrong with Pro-Flex Fred, just resealed my roof penetrations and it’s good stuff.

New fans come with screens that just pop off no more screws to take out to clean screen or fan blades. Some of the sky lite domes take different sealers some of the sealers will eat sky light domes can’t remember what kind it is I will think of it and let u know

Just put in a new Fantastic vent. Cleaned up all old caulk and puddy. Bought some tape that was recommended to me. It’s called Eternabond. Went down easy and looks like its going to make a nice seal, but I think I’d hate to have to remove it.

    yeah that Eternabond looks really
strong, they’ve got some youtube videos on their web site. It looks like it
    would seal forever!

Eternabond is really great stuff. Just make sure you cover it as it does hold up if directly exposed to UV.
