Roof Top Air conditioner sealant
I’m going to replace all of my roof top air conditioners. There are different Sikaflex products available to use as a sealant. I’m curious what others have used or recommend using? Thanks.

I think when I replaced all mine they have a thick black compression cushion that seals them? I do not think the service center added anything else…

Eric, you don’t want to be gluing your roof airs on.
Take a cover off of one and you should see the bolt pattern of how it’s mounted, you may have the nuts up top to unscrew and free up the unit. If not you have to go inside and take your ceiling down to where you can get the nuts off.
There should be new trim in the box to go under the unit to seal. I’m not overloading you with info because the vintage of your bus could be much different than mine.
After you get one off you will understand.
Do you have all new controls for these to operate them or do you have exact replacements?

I am replacing my Dometic 13,500 btu Dometic with 15,000 btu low profile penguin II air / heat pump. A Dometic representative told me the bolt patterns are the same. I also had to order new thermostats, but new wiring is not needed. I have not replaced these before so I just assumed there would be a need for some type of sealant. Thanks for the replies.

Eric….just one more word…..The foam seal that comes with your a/c’s goes between the AC and the bus roof. It should not be over tightened. Use restraint when you compress those seals. If you overtighten, they can “flow” out from where they should be.

I agree, I would not use Sikaflex for the AC’s.
