Roof Coating
Posted by Doug on July 3, 2016 at 1:10 pmDoes anyone know where in Oregon I can get the roof of my coach coated with one of the Temp Coat like products. I have the “peels” of clear coat. I know that it may not be a real big issue but it bothers me. So it would need to be sanded, prepped, and coated. I am in eastern Oregon but will take it to wherever I need.
Thanks, Doug

Larry,
Marathon Fort Worth did my roof in the spring and while I have no real data it has seemed to do it’s job. We get plenty of Texas sun and heat here and had no issues with the coach cooling this summer but obviously other factors are involved. A side benefit also seemed to be some sound reduction. My old roof was original and the seam sealant had dried out completely. The best I can really say is overall I am satisfied with the results, there seems to be other benefits of sound reduction almost like the roof was tightened and seam sealing. Marathon was great and very customer satifaction oriented. Good luck. -

If you get this (Temp coat or what ever Marathon calls it), done will you please let me know how how you like it. It is suppose to add some insulation factor to the bus.
Is there anybody else who has had this done, if so please comment.

Just had it done by Xtreme Paint and Graphics in Nacogdoches, TX. In on Monday out on Wednesday. Very satisfied with there prep and finish work.
Did notice inside of bus is quieter. James (owner) will need a picture of your roof to quote job.
Xtreme has been a long time advertiser on PC.
Roof was nearly completely bare of any protection. Over a day of prep work / make ready

Marathon Dallas did mine 2 years ago . Looks great, resealed the roof (mine needed it) and seat of the pants analysis definitely cooler . James at Extreme would be a great choice if he is close enough.

Hello,
I recently used Bus Kote which seals, but main reason for using it is for heat reduction in bus.
It is awesome

You say it’s “time” to recoat. I am interested to know what makes you think that. Not a negative comment but I don’t see where my 31 year old coach is showing any signs that yell “re-coat me”. Just interested to know if I am missing something.

See my earlier update. It does not need a re-coat. But as a precaution I want to keep on hand.

I second Bus Kote, 2 coats of primer , 2 coats of coating and 2 coats of sealer. One of the best improvements you can make. Amazing

Treated our roof couple years ago, happy with the results…if you do not to do it yourself, contact Eric Mann at Superior Coach Detailing, 407-516-8088, he serves Michigan and Florida and everything in between…his crews left Michigan yesterday on the way to a rally in Texas. Talked to them couple weeks ago while in North Michigan.
