When pairing up a 40 shorty and an XLII, someone has to be in the lead! Hmm, wonder who this is in the Liberty from TN with drive out tags and loud music that sounded like Mack the Knife?

Must be a movie star or a band. Fancy stage coach.

Be nice! Jon is just getting the hang of that fancy new fangled thing he bought. All those switches and gizmos were probably making him dizzy so he had to drive slow(er).

Hey Jon, how did those slides work out for you…are you enjoying the extra room? That coach sure does look nice!

I was afraid the slides wouldn’t come back in so we did not put them out. I didn’t drive in the dark because I was afraid I couldn’t find the headlight switch, and I never used the cruise control for fear it wouldn’t hold 62.5 MPH to the tolerance level I expect. But as you see from the picture it does run.

OK, just kidding. We used it all and are loving the slides. It will run with the big boys, and we notice despite strong winds coming home that there was no wind noise although it was strong enough to feel the wind while driving. Still some things to get used to but the transition was relatively easy and now with all of 1600 miles under my belt on this coach I know where the buttons are.

The trip to Myrtle Beach was through the Smokies and we knocked the 6.5 MPG shown upon the return from FL, down to 6.2 upon return from MB. Both trips the OTR was running, towed the Hummer back from FL but was not towing to MB. Didn’t want to give the retarder a check with the H2 pushing it down the hills, but now that I know the retarder can almost bring it to a stop down those hills I will not hesitate to tow.

It’s now in the garage, up on stands so maybe tomorrow I can get beneath it in the pit to learn what’s new. I am anticipating little cross over from my solid axle to the IFS, and I know the brakes are different, I know the hubs are the grease type instead of fluid, and I know the suspension is a little different so I have some learning ahead of me.

All kidding aside I have no fear of the slides or of any of its features. I know it to be a more expensive coach to own and maintain, but not because of reliability, but because there is more to it. The flip side is that the extra room from the slides makes a huge difference in livability.

Not being the sharpest knife in the drawer, I could not edit my own post nor could I get the link right. But we will give it one more shot. I am leaving the link in place in case I am not successful at this on the second go around. So much for today’s lesson on computer technology and the magic of the Internet.

I want it … I want it … Magic bus

For those who are bus fanatics as most of us are likely to be, Box Car Okie has one of the sweetest Eagles around and I can’t wait to see some of his handiwork. Rumor has it he may show up at the OKC rally the end of September.

Cruise through his blog and you will see various pictures of his Eagle.
