  • rivetless XL?

Posted by Chas on November 11, 2015 at 8:21 pm

I really didn’t want an XLII, but my XL has decided that’s what it wants to be…

so what are the specs on replacement rivets? For now I will fill with clear silicon sealant, but I don’t want to let this go for ever… Has anyone seen this?

There were one or two rivets missing on my coach when I bought. During the “zero-out” process, Jeff Rowe replaced them. I believe he used a blind rivet (“pop-rivet”?). Probably stainless steel. The setting tool probably has long arms to give you lots of leverage to set the rivet properly. I borrowered a long handled tool from a race car friend of mine to set some rivets on a project at home before I bought the Prevost.

Maybe Jeff will chime in here with the specs on the right rivet and tool to use.

I’d be interested to know what causes the rivets to pop like that. I expect that I will be adding that special rivet tool and a box of rivets to my tool box eventually.

Dick, I swear that rivet was there before I left East Tennessee the other day. I get to Florida into the sun and warmth and I look up and it’s gone?

I was thinking Jeff would know but figured I would save him from the phone call and ask here first 🙂
