Ckeck for neutral ground bonding. you transferr switch is suppose to switch grounds also. your two grounds white and earth ground green should not show continuity between them. If there is a gfi involved it doesn’t take to any bonding. from cord check green to bus skin= should show continuity. If white Common does it is wrong. Will try to work thru this with you. Any where in coach the grounds are bonded it will cause problem.

Bonded is an electrical term and it relates to some wiring in which the common (white) and ground (green) are connected together, typically in the electrical box.

Codes vary so on some RV outlets there will be a separation between the two, and on others the two will be joined in the power outlet box for example.

Have been using a circuit tester, and the results vary depending on whether the inverter is on or not. Going to try several of the suggestions I have gotten, appreciate them all! Want to got this figured out, just been busy with mowing the acreage and cleaning pool Would love to find an owner’s manual, been lost on this one too. As far as your reverse polarity issue. If you are using a 50 to 30 amp adapter, check the polarity at the 50 amp female end before plugging the coach cord in. The adapter may be wired incorrectly if the recepticle is wired correctly.

As far as your cameras, if the power was disconnected to the coach the radio- display unit will reset its connections. You need to get into the radio setup and set the correct input for the cameras. This is a failry common Royale (as well as other Monaco products) issue. Once you do it it is easy from then on.

If you are using a “cheater” to plug your 50 amp into two 30 amp plugs, the problem could be in the cheater itself. There could be a wire loose or crossed.

Your wife should be able to do that without any issues. Gen power over rides shore power, it should of made a smooth transition.

Unless she had everything running in the bus with a lot of load maybe that had something to do with it, but shouldn’t.

Do you know how to shut your bus down and power it back up? With the info your giving that’s all I can think of.

Let me just ask, how old are your house batteries?

House batteries are 6 month old Lifelines. I was able to shut everything down and restrart and seemed to clear. So now if I’m hooked to shoreline, all is fine. But when when when running generator, I’m not getting power to some appliances Someone suggested transfer switch may be bad?

It is possible that one of the transfer switch contacts got damaged. When you switch while drawing large inductive currents, the contacts will arc and eventually destroy themselves.

Thanks Gerald. I made to East Tennessee custom coach. Jeff evaluated and turns out I have one bad Trace inverter. Waiting for a replacement to be delivered.

Thanks for following up. Surprised that it would take out your inverter but anything can happen with inductive voltage spikes.

Just a reminder for all of us not to switch power sources when under large inductive loads. It is like russian roulette. If you happen to switch when the AC current is zero or small, not much will happen. If you happen to switch when the AC current is max, you can do quite a bit of damage. And the current goes through max or zero 120 times a second

Refrigerators do not seem to cause a problem. I think none of us turn off the refrigerator when disconnecting shore power or switching to generator. So, switching 100-200W is fine. If you have a couple of ACs running it can get interesting.

Good advice Gerald. And with an older coach like mine, I think even more important to be careful. My Trace inverters are no longer available. Jeff was able to find a used, completely tested Trace for me. Otherwise, both would need replacement with upgraded inverters some new wiring etc. Significantly more costly. Anyhow – Good to be a bit more careful with power in the future.
