  • Results of being locked in coach

Posted by Mark on August 18, 2019 at 8:14 pm

After being locked in our coach back in April during Oyster Fest, and trying to cut my way out through the door panel with no success, when I fixing the issues here is what happened. When I tried to get the same material on door to try and fix only the door I found out that the leather that came on my coach has been discontinued. So while at Marathon Grand Prairie I was talking with Loc, another Prevost Community member and while sitting in his coach talking, I commented on his leather color and decided to go with it.

So out comes my seats, dash and all components up front around the windshield to be recovered in a different color leather. Gail was not happy, since we were one month away from a trip. Well a few months later and a number of dollars later and counting, I have a totally different look. I’m still having things recovered, the couches next along with the dinette, which means I have more in the coach than I can ever get out of it.

But while it was apart I made a few changes and cut back the dash that was above the stairs making it more like a newer XLII. I’m including a few pictures.

While having the work completed, I had an access panel added to be able to get to the door lock in case this ever happens again.

In the pictures above, the area in red is how much of the dash that I cut off, giving more room coming up the steps.

Mark, Mark, Mark – Incredible job!! Don’t worry about return on investment as our enjoyment can never be quantified.

Love what you did on the dash and obviously your door issue will never happen again. Great idea.

Les that’s exactly what I told Gail, but she informed me that she could put a price tag on love. That’s harsh in my opinion, hope to see you guys sometime in the near future.

Thanks Tom, Gail is starting to talk about a slide coach. I’m trying to put my foot down and all I’m getting is the look.

Don’t resist Mark. Gail is going to get her coach with slides and you can be viewed by her as a hero for making that happen, or you can be viewed as a wart on the ass of progress.

You only have to look at Tom and Nancy to see how futile resistance is.

BTW, you might as well get at least 2 slides right from the git-go, something Tom is fighting, but will eventually end up with. (He doesn’t learn does he?)

Looks great, Mark. I’m sure you will enjoy the changes, and you really can’t put a price on making it your own. It’s only money, after all!!
