Tom, there is no discrimination at Crystal Lake RV Resort in Naples. Since Barb is retiring Monday after about 450 years in the classroom, we’re there for Jan and Feb 2018.

I agree with your stance but honestly don’t think I get a vote. If you can afford to turn down the ad money, fine by me. If it’s the difference in this site continuing to operate or not then it’s still your site and your money.
I noticed this year Bella Terra changed from a 10 year rule to a 15 year rule. Since my bus is old enough to buy it’s own bourbon, I still don’t qualify. When I made my reservations for 2017, they asked the age (they know from prior years) and then made it clear I was welcome at the rally but not at any other time of the year. I’d stay in a KOA first.
It leaves a bad bad taste in my mouth. I enjoy the event and meeting y’all, I bite my tongue and drive down. I did not get the lecture when I made my 2018 reservations in person before leaving.

We, too, have experienced such responses.
It can be hard to turn down advertising revenue, but why would you put up an ad that excludes, in an arbitrary and capricious manner, coaches over a certain age. And, by the way, is that age from chassis manufacture by Prevost, age from coach conversion, age from first purchase?!?
Completely bogus, inappropriate, and should not be accepted on this site as an advertiser at all (IMHO).a

It really hurts to say this, but I agree with Jon and Tom – (even though they don’t own a Country Coach).
I’ve traveled a lot of miles in my coach from one end of this country to the other. Coast to coast and north to south. Some of the best and most reasonably priced places I’ve stayed had gravel roads. The park owners worked in the office and understood our needs because they were rv’ers themselves.
The worst places were the parks that sold lots and were run by a Home Owner’s Committee. Sure they were opulent and over the top, but wayyy too pricey and too many rules. Consumers, like us, “vote” with our dollars. There is always a reason some of these opulent parks with lots for sale don’t sell out quickly.
Running off good paying rental customers is not a good policy and I am with Jon and Tom. We should not reward these ignorant parks by allowing them to advertise on the Prevost Community website. It is a PRIVILEDGE to be able to directly speak to us through the website ads. If you are going to turn away any of my friends, like Joe and Becky, then shame on you. You do not get to advertise on this website.
I stand with my friends. If you will not take Joe and Becky any day of the year, then you must not want my business either.

Just a FYI there are several places that provide services that can not advertise on this site…If you are a service facility that provides service that has a track record of providing poor service or charge you for service you did not get then they are not on here. If you sell coaches and are once again a track record of multiple people having issues with the integraty of the company they are not on here….
Everyone makes mistakes (other than Jon) it is how that mistake is resolved and how you learn from your mistake that matters…..Campgrounds that now enforce this 10 year rule have not learned from their mistakes…
Therefore those that do advertise here are privaliged to have this audiance…

If Tom and I were running this site strictly for the money there would be a lot of changes. We would have our web guru set up a means by which we would generate bogus references to ad views so we could tell our advertisers we sent more traffic their way than we really do. We would jack up our ad rates which are relatively cheap when you consider our actual web site activity and our demographics. We might even double the dues.
We would let anyone that wants to advertise appear here, but Jeff is correct in saying there are some folks that do not adverise here because the feedback has been so negative we don’t feel comfortable having them on this site. Yes we are biased and discriminate just like the resorts we are complaining about, but it is our members who have been screwed that influenced that posture.
We would like more advertising dollars. We know for example the web site revisions are going to cost us money, but unlike the first year or two we are not taking money from our pockets to keep money in the checkbook to pay for those updates. The few dollars we would lose by not allowing some RV resorts to advertise is going to have almost no impact on this site or our ability to continue doing what we do.

While I respect the rights of the Owners of this site to refuse advertising from whoever they choose as well as the opinions of the Members regarding this situation, I can only speak of personal experiences. On three occasions during this past Winter, I visited three resorts that have age restrictions in place and if I remember correctly, one even had a size restriction. Obviously my 59 year old, 34-foot bus did not qualify under either rule. Prior to each visit, I submitted either a photo or a brief video of my bus to the resort managment office and in all cases received a prompt affirmative response. Yes, this is not a typical bus.
When making two of these reservations, I was told upfront that my reservation was contingent upon approval by the owner-controlled board. As stated, the approval was swift.

Or as an alternative I could have thought to make my reservations with Brittny and when she resquested a photo of my old wore out coach I could tell her I don’t have time to stop and take a pic of my coach and then take the time to log onto my email and send her a pic for her board’s approval.
When does the board meet to look at my pic amd make a decision?
I don’t make reservations weeks in advance or want to sit on the side of the road while I stay loged into my email to receive a response from the RV park I wanted to go to, Hell, by the time all this transpires I could have been there.
Its simple, if they don’t want my money I wont give them any.
