Regardless of the age of your Prevost, this site caters to Prevost enthusiasts from all walks of life. Once a forum, open to all, allows RV resorts who discriminate, based on the age of your coach & not the “condition” of your coach, they lose sight of what they’re trying to protect in their resorts.

I view this as other kind-of forum/club. If you own a Harley and go to a Harley ralley, they don’t ask the age of your Harley. Maybe it doesn’t translate exactly and, yes, RV’s generally depreciate over time, but from my travels over the last 18-months into every kind of RV park, I’ve yet to see a Prevost that looks like it’s from the Clampets.

I guess some RV Resorts are feeling they are NASCAR, which formerly had a rule the Cup cars had to be withing three years of new. Now that was awhile ago when the car bodies were “bodies in white” a shell of stock sheet metal.

Under the former body rules they had to turn away competitors because they limited the field to 40 cars. They later opened the field to no more than 43 cars, Past Champions expansion when they could no longer make the field of 40. Last weekend at Charlotte, in the longest race, they could not even field 40 cars.

The RV Resorts with age limits may be heading the same way. Suppose for a minute they discriminated by the age of the RV owner. We could file a discrimination lawsuit. So they go the way of discrimination based on the age of the coaches. How pathetic an approach is that.

I’m with you guys. Sign me up. Maybe we should hold a park in in front of these discriminators business. No broken windows of buildings set on fire, just a lot of large vehicles on the road in front of their businesses.

Just to clarify, the 10 year limit mentioned in the post is not an absolute number. I believe our policy should be to not allow RV resorts to advertise on this site if they have any age limit and even if they make an exception based on a review of a photo of your coach.

We have members with a lot of non-Prevost coaches and of a wide range of ages and our purpose is to not support or promote any resort that discriminates against any member.

It’s absurd.. Imagine being the guy who just spent 500K on his 06 H Prevost and being told, sorry, your RV is to old for our luxurious over priced Campground Resort.

My opinion is Dont boycott the boycott. If you do you become just another “chick fillet” “cake baker” protester. If you really want to make a point let them advertise. Come one come all. Just require a Red “10” by their logo. (like the Scarlett “A”. You know, so pc members dont have to waste their time reviewing resorts in which they are not welcome. Other than that, take the advertising dollars. PC members will make their choice. Jeff

Jon, I agree. You have just as much of a right to turn them away as they do turning you away (not you specifically). While I have not run into any of the resorts that have a firm 10 year rule, probably because they are ot of my budget, I have run across many that ask how old m coach is and what it is. So far, because i am still in the 10 years, barely at 07, I have had no issues. I did have one place that asked what year my coach was and when I said 07 thy asked WHAT it was. When I told them they said ok, no problem.

If they desire to ask for a picture to help maintain a degree of (uniformity) fine, it’s thier place. But to turn away based solely on age is rediculous. I have seen some beautiful Silver Eagles of the 60’s and 70’s vintage that I would LOVE to have parked next to me.

I know I am not a Prevost owner, and may or may not be allowed at your rallies, but the 10 year thing applies to me as well, and I would put my coach up against ANY newer one on the road.

We have been on the receiving end of “bus age discrimination”. I agree on two points above. I’m against sending a coach photo begging entry, but let these organizations advertise. Getting the fallout from forum members criticism maybe the fastest way a resort changes their policy. In the “Aitstream” world mere mentioning the brand regardless of age gains you entry to most any campground. Everyone knows what an airstream is, but there are those in the world who don’t know what a Prevost is. To some, when you say bus conversion, they immediately conjure up a old school bus with a bed

I agree! About two years ago we wanted to camp at the Treetops campground near Ft Worth. Since we had a ’95 coach, they wanted pictures, which I reluctantly provided. When we got to the campground, we saw mostly trailers–our 20-year old coach added class to the place! Other campgrounds we have stayed in used to have age limits. Now they cater to permanent residents in trailers of unknown age.

Even Mr Liberty, Frank K. did a double take when he saw my Marathon at his 2017 spring rally. Liberty Coach looked at me as fresh meat in the parking lot. Frank K thank me for coming to their rally and reminded me they do take Marathons in trade.

Thinking and pondering about this, I think the wording that the parks use is wrong. They should say ‘coach condition rules apply’, not just a random number (10).

I think 99% of the parks that state the ’10 year rule’ actually don’t have that rule, it’s really a ‘condition’ rule.

Bottom line, I like what Jeff says a few posts above, let them advertise and note that they have a 10 yr. rule so that the PC members know and they can vote with their dollars.

I hate to see PC miss out on dues!

Take their money and make sure they know that the age limit will be part of the entry on PC. Then we can decide if we want to use their facility or not. But PC gets the income so my dues don’t go up agian!

That would be like accepting bigotry. I guess as long as a person wears a tee shirt that says he is a bigot he should be allowed to practice his bigotry? Not in my opinion. The RV parks that discriminate are in effect saying that we as people are not acceptable in their world. I can’t speak for everyone but I can’t accept that, especially when the RV parks which mostly sell lots as well as rent them, allow their lot owners to deviate from the 10 year requirement.

You can take a look at this side of 10 year go to hell rule.

RV park gets a call for rally…we estimate 20 – 30 buses to attend. Besides the site rental fees RV park owners get to show their stuff and just maybe someone buy’s a site. Second, how about all of the extra money we bring into their economy, diesel fuel, gas, grocery stores, restaurants, beer, entrance fees to local surroundings.

Maybe when we’re turned down on this lame 10 year rule our next call should be to their local Chamber of Commerce to explain how xdthio RV Park just sent $5K to $20K to there local economy someplace else.

The above is exactly what happened when PC expressed rally interest in northern MI.

I’m the cause of this thread and was completely onboard when Jon suggested the post.

This week myself and two friends were making a reservation at Naples Motorcoach Resort for our tradition of spending New Years together each year. It just happened to be around the same time as our 2018 Clawfest, so I was able to get a site that didn’t require me to move. They never asked for my coach age since I was there in Jan this year for 2017 Clawfest, maybe I should call it Cory & Georges Clawfest.

So my one friend who has a 2004 didn’t lie and told them his year. His reservation stopped there and was told no way. So I got on the phone and ended up with the manager. He told me the 10 year rule has been brought to the forefront by the site owners and there will be absolutely no exceptions. I asked about pictures and the answer was no.

I told him mine is a 2002 and probably 75% of the Clawfest Prevost group are over 10 years, so how can he discriminate? He said they have the right to ask for a copy of the registration and any coach over 10 years will be asked to leave. In addition, if they are told a coach in their resort is over 10, they will have to leave if the registration confirms the age.

My reservations where promptly cancelled and refunds issued. Will we take money from Naples Motorcoach Resort for Advertising, he’ll no.
