Replacing AUX Compressor
Need Assistance, very new to this but willing to try, I decided it was time to replace Noisy GAST Compressor! I’ve used California Air compressors before in shop and was very impressed at how quiet they were. I did see where others have replaced with California Tools so decided i’d give it a try. Got it mounted, wired and everything, this is in a H3/45, pretty easy access. Purchased the California Tools MP100LF, fires up no problem, pressure switch cuts it off between 90-100 PSI, the problem is there is NO Relief off the pressure head so the start-up the next time around the compressor can’t get going! I see a solenoid looking deal that’s mounted next to pressure switch in front cabinet, my question is this Solenoid bad or just not rated to release enough pressure? Im thinking would it be best to replace pressure switch with a new one that has a dump/relief built into it? Then just remove the solenoid altogether? Any ideas or suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Thanks Don, and yes, have been digging deep in this thread, some of your past pic’s have really helped! I think i’m starting to get it BUT my question is now so does the Versa 102v Closed Solenoid value release the pressure enough in the line that goes back to the compressor? Definitely like the TWO Water Trap approach as well!

Most shop compressors have a pressure switch/valve that “Sneeze” pressure off when they open the circuit. I’m not certain either of my 120vac valve/switch does that? Under the gray cover I can adjust the psi up and/or down. I’ve turned mine down to close the electrical circuit at 35 psi and open at 55 psi. There’s nothing that needs more than that when parked on my bus. Compressor will last longer too. Leak rate is less at lower pressure too so it doesn’t run as often.

Do you have a working check valve coming out of the compressor?

My bus has the Versa brand normally closed 120v solenoid valve that I believe acts as a check valve. Its controlled by the 120v Pumptrol pressure switch.

I was thinking about putting a relief value for OVER Pressure as a safety device. But is there such a relief value to release pressure to bleed line?

I would like to replace the Thomas 12 volt air compressor located back of the front bumper in the spare tire compartment with a California Air Tools 2010A 110 volt compressor. Where do I get or mount the 110 volt plug in and the On/Off switch. Hope someone has done this before. Thanks in advance. Darrell
