Replacement end for my shore power cord needed
I replaced the 50amp male shore power cord a while back with one from Midwest products. Finding a low profile one that fits in the receptabcle was difficult. One of the blades on one of the legs of that male end has been running hot enough to melt the plastic on the end and also is screwing up the 50 amp female plugs that I plug into. I don’t know if it was a poor connection on the male side of my cord or if there could be an issue with an inverter but I suspect it’s a bad connecton on the cord. I recently saw a cord at Home Depot which is a vulcantized end with some lenth of cord on it which would allow soldering of the wires to my shore cord along with heat shrink but the gauge of the cord was about a 1/3 smaller than the bus power cord so I didn’t buy it. I suspect something like this is available in the larger size cord I would need.
What is the preferred method and part to use when replacing this the 2nd time around and where to order ?

This may be what you need but it requires the fins being carefully ground down to fit the openning. Jeff at East Tennessee Luxury coach carries them I think if you can’t find one. Good luck. Diane

However the replaement is made, make sure it is done correctly.
If there is heat that means resistance and that is caused by a bad connection. At best the circuit opens. At worst you can set the coach on fire.

Jon is right…another good reason to use a surge protector… a very minimal amount is taken off the fins.. I had my electrician do a few for me and some friends.

Just so that I understand what you are saying, when you say ‘fins’ are you talking about the metal prongs being trimmed down?

When we were taking delivery, I noticed that our coach has the plug coming out from the bottom of the coach which was different than the other 2015’s in the showroom.
It might be because we have a four slide unit. I have a button in the water bay to operate the cord. I like to grab it before it hits the ground as not to scuff the end piece. We also have a remote control I can carry with me as I walk to the receptacle so that I can turn it off without more cord pouring out the bottom of the coach. Our other coach didn’t have that feature so I had to RUN to turn off the cord.

The Vantare power cord went out bottom of coach too and I like that much better… you can have any size power head that way.
I know you are loving your coach….will get to see it at Bella Terra I hope and meet you and Craig..until then have a Happy Thanksgiving and be safe..
