Repair or replace
Kabota v2203 engine on my 31k generator… throws oil from rear seal i guess and burns anti-freeze out the exhaust. Just wondering if I should buy a rebuilt engine or repair this one. runs 4 roof airs on hot TX days.

Any reason for replacing it as opposed to repairing the seal?
It is common for our generators to exceed 30,000 to 40,000 hours in use on entertainer coaches.

Repair, even if it requires a rebuild, should cost way less than replacement.
I have that Kubota engine powering my generator and it has been trouble free. How much coolant is yours using? The Kubota owner’s manual that came with my bus indicates that coolant is expected to disappear. The manual makes a point of saying that coolant needs to be replenished regularly. (That makes no sense to me if the engine is working properly, but that is what the manual says.) I don’t have it handy but I believe the manual gives an expected or acceptable use rate of one quart of coolant per day. For what it’s worth, I have rarely needed to add coolant to mine and I sometimes run it for days on end.
