Removing Trac Star Satellite from roof??
I have on the roof of my 2002 H-3 one of these Trac Star Satellite domes. The unit is now obsolete and sticks up quite high, I would like to remove it. I have done some inquiring about this removal and have been told that the satellite is actually recessed into the roof about 4″. This means once you remove the dish, a sizable roof repair will have to be made. Has anyone ever removed one of these dishes, and how big a deal is it to fix the roof? I may have the name wrong, it is the big dish that was used in 2002

All of the installations I have seen have had a mounting plate secured to the roof, and then to that plate the satellite dish was secured. You should be able to remove the TracStar, secure the coax cable to the plate and you are done. The plate will then be available if you or someone wants to restore an antenna to the roof.
Nobody will ever see or know the plate is up there.

I too have that same described satellite dome, and have the same plan for it. So any advise for David will also help me.
I did remove another brand from the Liberty roof several years ago, and it was exactly as Jon described with the mounting plate and a coax.
Like many others, we’re using the robotic Winegard thing.

Same with me, a nice aluminum plate attached to the roof and the satellite attached to the plate, easy removal.
