  • Removing aux engine oil tank

Posted by Art on January 19, 2022 at 10:19 am

Has anyone removed the rear engine auxiliary oil tank, I was thinking of getting rid of that tank that I’ve never used before, I’ve never had to add oil before, when I change oil and refilling oil I drain that 1st into engine then when I’m done I put 1 gallon of fresh oil in it. I think it was intended for bus drivers that drive thousands of miles. Less is better.

yes. Generally, my bus uses about 1 gallon of oil in 10,000 miles which is my oil change interval. Since there is about a gallon between add and full on dipstick, I seldom add oil.

I don’t use mine – probably should remove it but haven’t.

Art that tank is a great source for water to enter into engine oil ,friend never monitored and condensation and water in engine oil tossed the tank away.

I suspected the same condensation problem as one of my oil samples when still using tank came back with water.
